Lauren Thompson, a mother of three, made a 911 call when she went missing in a wooded area in the Rockhill area of Panola County, located in eastern Texas along the Louisiana border, in January 2019. The Texas woman's remains have now been found.

Investigators received help from the Texas Rangers Division and forensic anthropologists from the Center for Human Identification at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. Using dental records, they were able to identify the missing mom, Sheriff Cutter Clinton of The Panola County Sheriff's Office confirmed. The remains were found by a work crew in July, and forensic anthropologists have been working for months to identify them. The incident is being looked into as a death investigation. "Our office will be diligent on pursuing all relevant investigative leads," Clinton said, according to PEOPLE. As of now, there are no details on a possible cause of death. "Please keep the family of Lauren in your prayers," he added.

The distressing 911 call took place on Jan. 10, 2019. She was 32 years old at the time. The distraught mother was confused about where she was and told emergency dispatchers that she felt someone was coming after her, reports KYTX. Officials used cell phone tower pings to determine her approximate location. Her SUV was discovered in a ditch off Farm-to-Market Road 1794, just five minutes after the call ended. According to The Panola Watchman, she went missing in a "heavily flooded" area which was mostly unsearchable at the time of her disappearance. Officials noted that there were no apparent signs of criminal activity at the scene at the time they arrived.

The woman's parents Torie and Greg Colvin believe there's still so much left unanswered. “The next phase of forensics would be to determine if there was a cause of death that was other than natural or normal,” father Greg Colvin told KSLA. “And according to authorities, they have to go through that process to confirm one way or another.” “The difficult part is how we are going to approach the children to disclose this information to them,” Greg said. “And for me, and I’m sure for Torie, too, looking into the eyes of a child is very emotional.” The couple is also waiting for the 911 call to be legally released.
