The woman was speechless when the doctor discovered another baby during her ultrasound.
The body works in mysterious ways.
A mom-to-be went for a scan thinking she was expecting twins. She was met with shock and surprise when the doctor told her that she was getting a little more than she bargained for.
“You have three babies inside,” he said, as per New York Post.
The mom shared the emotional video on her TikTok channel @tamingtriplets. “This Doc didn’t prepare us at all for the shock 😅 ,” she confessed.
According to the woman, she fell pregnant with twins naturally, and the couple was overjoyed with the news. The woman, from the US, was speechless when the doctor discovered another baby during her ultrasound, which he explained was conceived 10 days later after the set of twins.
@tamingtriplets This Doc didn’t prepare us at all for the shock 😅 How was this 1 year ago?? Most emotional day of my life!! Happy, scared, overwhelmed, blessed, shocked….. “Oh my God!” she exclaimed. Her fiancé couldn’t believe it, saying: “This is an April Fool’s joke, right?” Now, the fact that one of her triplets are 10-11 days younget than the rest were confirmed by the doctor himself, she said, through multiple ultrasounds.
According to Charlotte, her doctor monitored her entire pregnancy super closely, administering ultrasounds every two weeks. The youngest one was only slightly behind her siblings, in terms of goals, but not struggling or malnourished.
While this may seem like a surprise or a miracle, it's actually something that happens. It's known as "superfetation"—when a second, new pregnancy begins after one is already underway, according to Healthline.
"Another ovum (egg) is fertilized by sperm and implanted in the womb days or weeks later than the first one," the website explains. So long as both eggs keep on growing, you've got yourself a case of "spontaneous multiples."

Here's what Charlotte has to say about it. "When you ovulate, it's for 24 hours and sperm can live in your body for three to five days," Charlotte explains in the video. "Our first two babies are 10 and 11 days older than our third baby, so that's how we knew straight away it was a second pregnancy."
"To confirm it's superfetation, not twin absorption or a more malnourished baby, the doctor has been doing ultrasounds every two weeks and sure enough, it's been hitting every single milestone like it's supposed to."
In March 2021, she finally welcomed all three of her babies when her daughter Ivy's water broke when she was about 29 weeks along. Her other two girls—Vivienne and Georgina—followed just five minutes later.
All three girls weighed just over 2 lbs. at birth, according to Cosmo UK, which meant they had to spend a few days at the NICU to regain their strength, but all is well now and they are all home, growing as a family.
