Natalie Portman opened up about meeting her husband on a movie set and how it changed her life.
When an actress admits that her husband is of more importance than her Academy Award, it can be safely said that the couple is among the happiest ones. The Thor actress recently opened up about the "most important role" of her life and how she met her husband Benjamin Millepied.
Natalie Portman met her ballet dancer husband on the set of her Oscar-winning movie Black Swan in which he choreographed and performed, and things took a drastic and pleasant turn from there. The award-winning actress was asked if the Academy Award makes her more excited or finding "the one" she replied, "Yeah. The husband more," reports US Weekly.
"It was really special and making it was really wonderful and so fun. It was really incredible," she added. Portman, 38, and Millepied, 42, tied the knot in 2012 after welcoming their son, Aleph, now 8, in June 2011. The couple is also parents of 2-year-old daughter Amalia, who was born in 2017.
Both Portman and Millepied do not shy away from some public display of affection whenever spotted in public. More often than not, the couple is pictured hand in hand, just savoring each other's company. The father of Portman's two children proposed to her with a classic-cum-modern halo setting engagement ring, reports Brides.
Months after giving birth to their son, Portman won the Academy Award for Black Swan and dedicated it to the love of her life in a moving acceptance speech. She said the award was for "beautiful love, Benjamin, who has now given me my most important role in my life."
She expresses her admiration for him in the most adorable way. Explaining her bond with him she said that he knows her very well and she feels comfortable with him. She also seemed in awe of his talent and dancing skills.
"It was really fun because I think he knows me so well, and what my strengths and weaknesses are in dancing, that he was really able to create choreography very seamlessly and quickly because we had very little time," Portman explained. "So it was very convenient that he knew me so well, and that he’s as talented as he is." reports People.
She continued, "It was fun to get to watch him create because I don't often watch him in the studio. Just to see the ease and the expertise that he has, and of course with different kinds of dance too, was really, really stunning."
"So many people helped me prepare for this role," a then-pregnant Portman said at the 83rd Academy Awards in 2011. "Mary Helen Bowers spent a year with me, training me. Michelle Rodriguez, and Kurt Froman, and Olga Kostritzky, Marina Stavitskaya, and my beautiful love, Benjamin Millepied, who choreographed the film and has now given me my most important role of my life," she added.
As reported by OK Magazine, Millepied was living in with his Ballerine girlfriend, Isabella Boylston, before meeting Portman. After meeting the award-winning actress on the set of Black Swan, he left Isabella to be with her.
The ace ballet dancer and Portman have kept a very low profile during her pregnancy. They are fiercely protective about the privacy of their kids and do not document any updates on social media. They are also raising their kids to be vegan like Portman and they believe that this is a way of life that they all must follow.
"It comes really naturally because I think, you know, you tend to make one thing that everyone eats for dinner," Portman explained. "We tend to eat vegan and vegetarian food in the house. It becomes like the normal stuff that kids get used to," she said according to US Magazine.
In an ever-shifting world where relationships have become momentary and super publicized, Portman and Millepied have managed to carry themselves, their relationship and family in a graceful manner. While a lot has been said and written about their intimate relationship from before the time they were married, they have always exuded love and happiness whenever asked about their relationship, in the process, proving that when one is in love, it's all about the positive things in life!
