The authorities viewed the security footage from the day before the actor's death and noted that he showed no signs of distress.
It's been more than over a month since comedian and actor Bob Saget passed away but his death continues to be a talking point. It was reported that he suffered a fall that caused his demise. An autopsy later revealed the actor had suffered "blunt head trauma" and there has been speculation on how falling on his head couldn't cause such damage. The cops have confirmed that they suspect no foul play. Saget was found dead in 962 at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes in Florida following a gig. One hotel staffer remains in shock especially considering he was his happy cheerful self the night before. "He was cracking jokes, waving to people in the lobby," a hotel employee told PEOPLE.
He said that the "Full House" star was taking selfies with fans and joking with them. "He was a ball happy, positive energy," the employee claimed. The authorities also checked security footage to see if Saget looked or felt any different. He was spotted exiting the elevator on the ninth floor and walking towards his room. He showed no signs of distress, said the authorities. He entered his room at 2:17 a.m. before hanging a "Do Not Disturb" placard outside his door. He was then later found dead in his room by hotel security. Authorities have attempted to trace what happened and believe he lost consciousness in the bathroom and fell backward onto the marble floor and hit his head. Police said they believe he came to his senses in a groggy state and stumbled onto the bed before losing consciousness again and then died. The time of death was noted at 4:00 am. His body would only be found roughly 12 hours later.
By the end of the weekend, Saget was found dead in his room. Chief Medical Examiner Joshua Stephany, MD's autopsy report stated that he died as a "result of blunt head trauma." The autopsy ruled out that Saget's fall was induced by any illicit drugs or toxins. Saget's fall was ruled an accident but the authorities are still struggling to piece together what exactly happened. Matters were further complicated after the autopsy report found that he had suffered serious injuries including fracturing his skull in several places. "It's definitely an unusual case," said an Orange County Sheriff's deputy. "There are still a lot of unanswered questions."
Dr. Stephany wrote in the autopsy report. “It is most probable that the decedent suffered an unwitnessed fall backward and struck the posterior aspect of his head." There has been much speculation as to how he died, but some brain injury experts believe the nature of injuries can arise from a fall if he had hit the back of his head in the right places. “It’s like an egg cracking,” said Dr. Jeffrey Bazarian, a concussion expert at the University of Rochester Medical Center, reported New York Times. “You hit it in one spot, and it can crack from the back to the front.” Medical professionals also believe way Saget wouldn't have intentionally ignored the injury given the grievous nature of it. They believe he must have turned unconscious from the fall and was left confused. “I doubt he was lucid,” said Dr. Bazarian, “and doubt he thought, ‘I’m just going to sleep this off.’”
"What happened to Bob Saget is extremely tragic, but unfortunately not uncommon. Falling from standing, especially onto a hard surface like a bathtub or hard ground, can cause the kind of injury that Mr. Saget experienced," said Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency physician and public health professor at George Washington University, reported PEOPLE.
