Nick Carter is spending time with his family following the death of his brother, singer, and rapper Aaron Carter. The Backstreet Boys singer, 42 celebrated Thanksgiving with his wife Lauren Kitt, and their three kids — Odin Reign, 6, Saoirse Reign, 3, and 19-month-old Pearl, reports PEOPLE. "So thankful to spend some quality time with all our loved ones on Thanksgiving. we hope you all had a great time as well," he captioned a series of pictures of them and their extended family.
Three weeks ago, the singer's brother passed away at age 34 at his home in Southern California. At the time of his death, Nick shared several photos of the pair when they were younger, paying tribute to his brother, "My heart has been broken today. Even though my brother and I have had a complicated relationship, my love for him has never ever faded. I have always held onto the hope, that he would somehow, someday want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed." The post continued to say that "sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is that addiction and mental illness is the real villain here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know. I love you Chizz., now you get a chance to finally have some peace you could never find here on earth….God, please take care of my baby brother."
Both Nick and Aaron's twin sister Angel have started a donation fund that will benefit children's mental health organization On Our Sleeve in honor of their late sibling. According to a press release, "On Our Sleeves is on a mission to provide every community in America access to free, evidenced-informed educational resources necessary for breaking stigmas about child mental health as well as educating families and advocates." The fund's page features the message, "Thank you for choosing to celebrate the impact of the life of Aaron Carter with a gift of hope. By honoring Aaron, you help Nick, Angel, and their family's commitment of helping others."
The late I want Candy singer leaves behind a son Prince who recently celebrated his first birthday just three weeks after his father was found dead in the bathtub at his Lancaster home, reports CNN. The baby's mother Melanie Martin who had been engaged to Aaron shared a video compilation writing, “Happy birthday to my baby boy Prince Lyric Carter. Today is going to be a tough one for me but I know your daddy is playing birthday songs for you up in heaven I love you baby boy!!!” The cause of Aaron Carter’s death has not yet been determined.
