Owen Wilson has never been married, but he is a dad to three children. According to Hollywood Life, he first became a father to son Robert Ford Wilson, now 11, with ex-girlfriend Jade Duell in 2011. His second son, Finn Lindqvist, now 8 years old, came along via ex-Caroline Lindqvist, followed by 3-year-old Lyla with ex-Varunie Vongsvirates. Court docs revealed he requested a paternity test to confirm he was the father in June 2018. But, while Wilson regularly meets his two sons regularly, he never has been a part of his daughter's life. In fact, he pays his ex-girlfriend about $25,000 a month to support his daughter, and he has also added her to his Screen Actors Guild medical insurance, but that's the extent of the relationship he shares with her, reported Yahoo News. Moreover, he had to pay a one-time amount of $70,000, which was used to hire a night nurse, a labor coach, and his ex’s attorney.
Now, while Vongsvirates had full custody of her daughter, she has stated that she still wishes her daughter could meet her father online. However, the former couple signed a contract promising not to slander each other online, in public interviews, or in public. In fact, when he found out Vongsvirates was pregnant, he started distancing himself from her. According to a source who spoke to Radar, “When Varunie told Owen she was pregnant, he was not happy about it, and that was the last time they ever spoke. He changed his phone number. He’s never met his daughter and then he gave no heads up that he was changing his number,” the source added.
According to a source, after Vongsvirates gave birth to her daughter, Wilson never tried contacting her. The source also claimed that Wilson “knew all along that Varunie was pregnant. Owen was told when Varunie was four weeks pregnant," after they returned from their trip from Hawaii. In 2018, US Weekly also reported that not only was Wilson refusing to meet his daughter, but he also had "checked the no visitation box in court in June … He does not want to visit [and does not] want any custody of her.”
According to Radar, Vongsvirates being vocal about Lyla's need for her dad's love and affection has "nothing" to do with money. For Vongsvirates, Lyla is her priority, and it shows from the way her former girlfriend dropped everything she was doing to give her daughter all the attention she needed and became a full-time mom, said the source. “Varunie’s mother passed away when she was still kind of young and impressionable. She knows what it’s like to grow up with one parent. She doesn’t want that to happen to her daughter.”
No one knows if Wilson might change his mind and finally go meet his daughter, but until then, one can hope.
