Wilson's ex, Varunie Vongsvirates, 35, wants him to be involved in his daughter's life.
Owen Wilson's daughter, Lyla looks just like her dad. The toddler celebrated her third birthday recently and her mom, Wilson's ex, took to Instagram to share the sweet image of her daughter's wavy blond hair and blue eyes as she smiled at the camera. Varunie Vongsvirates captioned the image: Happy 3rd birthday to my wild child! I love you so much!!!!
Although Wilson has reportedly been financially helping his daughter, Lyla has never met her father so far. Owen Wilson is a doting dad to his two sons, despite not being in a romantic relationship with either of their respective mothers. The 52-year-old actor welcomed his first child with his then-girlfriend Jade Duell, with whom he reportedly split up in 2011. He was dating fitness trainer, Caroline Lindqvist soon after, who gave birth to his second child.

Varunie has previously claimed that she begged Wilson to be involved in his daughter's life. She admitted to Daily Mail that her former partner was "not involved at all" with their little girl and "has never" even met her. She said, "He helps financially but it’s never been about that. Lyla needs a father. It’s ironic how [Owen] keeps getting these father roles, he's playing a father in his new movie, and he's never met his own daughter." When asked if she had anything to tell her former partner, she shared, "You should see your daughter, she's incredible, you're really missing out. She looks just like you."
A source told Us Weekly that the Wonder actor "refuses to meet his daughter. He even checked the no visitation box in court in June … He does not want to visit [and does not] want any custody of her." The source added that Wilson “has not contacted Varunie at all” after she gave birth nor during her pregnancy, despite the fact that they “dated for almost five years.” According to the insider, Wilson “knew all along that Varunie was pregnant. Owen was told Varunie was four weeks pregnant” when they got home from Hawaii. A representative for Wilson told Us, “This is a private matter and it’s not appropriate to comment further.” The source noted, “The baby looks just like Owen. She has fair skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes.” Previously, the actor voluntarily took a paternity test when his former partner claimed she was pregnant with his child. “Owen has been a great father to his boys and has maintained a warm and close relationship with their mothers,” a source told the outlet at the time. “Of course, if a paternity test establishes that he is the father of another child, he will fulfill all of his obligations to support his child.”
Back in 2019, The Daily Mail reported that The Wedding Crashers actor reportedly paid $25,000 a month to support the upkeep of the daughter he's never met. He also paid for a one-off $70,000 to cover a night nurse, labor coach, and Vongsvirates' legal fees. The actor did not want any visitation rights. His former partner filed for sole custody of the child and will be the person making decisions around the child's health, education, and welfare. Varunie filed a paternity petition with the court in May 2018, just five months before baby Lyla Aranya Wilson was born. Wilson and Varunie casually dated for five years before breaking up as per the outlet.
