Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne have been married since 1982. In 2016, they broke up briefly after Ozzy was caught cheating.
The older we grow, the more wisdom we gain. It teaches us to learn from our mistakes and sometimes, we accrue regrets. We can't take back our words or actions that hurt others or even ourselves. However, recognizing them as mistakes is a sign of growth. It is important to keep growing forward from there and make amends.
Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, who recently turned 72, has lived a life of regrets. As he grows older, his mistakes are becoming glaringly clear to him and one of them is breaking his wife, Sharon Osbourne's heart and her trust.
The couple have been married since 1982 and have three children. Their decades-long marriage was marred by a break up in 2016 after it was revealed that the rock star had cheated on the TV show host. He had an affair, which he's "not proud" of.
In a new interview for British GQ's Men of the Year issue, Ozzy said that he hurt her. "I've done some pretty outrageous things in my life. I regret cheating on my wife. I don't do it anymore," he said. "I got my reality check and I'm lucky she didn’t leave me. I'm not proud of that. I was pissed off with myself. But I broke her heart," he added.
He told Rolling Stones in 2017 that he "realized what a f------ idiot I was. I mean, I’m still nuts, but in control of it a bit more. When I said, 'Don’t get caught by your missus,' I'm not proud of all that s---. I upset my wife and I upset my family and I made a lot of shock and shame. I love my wife, and it made me realize what a f----- idiot I’ve been."
Sharon, 68, took her time and gave her apology in a public way. During an episode of The Talk in 2016, she told her audience that she and her husband were working on getting back together.
"I forgive. It’s going take a long time to trust, but we’ve been together 36 years, 34 of marriage … I just can’t think of my life without him," she said back then, joking that her husband has been "a dirty dog," according to People. The couple renewed their vows in Las Vegas on Mother's Day that year.
They reconciled within months of breaking up after he had an affair with his hairstylist, Michelle Pugh. However, that's not the only time he cheated on Sharon. Speaking to Rolling Stone about his past indiscretions, he said, "It’s a rock 'n' roll thing — you rock and you roll. You take the good with the bad. When I was a crazy f---er, I’m lucky she didn’t walk out."
Sharon has also shown him what true love looks like, being by his side through one of the darkest times in his life. Ozzy revealed in January 2020 that he has Parkinson's disease, something he discovered after falling at home, according to Good Morning America. "It's not a death sentence but it affects certain nerves in your body. You have a good day, a good day, then a really bad day," said Sharon.
"It's been terribly challenging for us all. I did my last show [on] New Year's Eve (2018). Then I had a bad fall. I had to have surgery on my neck, which screwed all my nerves," said the singer back then.
He had surgery after the fall and is now on medication for Parkinson's and nerve pain. There were many rumors about his health, and he chose to share it with the world. "I'm no good with secrets. I cannot walk around with it any more 'cause it's like I'm running out of excuses, you know?" he said.
