After two of her young children died less than a year apart while purportedly in the care of their grandmother, one in a hot vehicle, and the other in an accidental drowning, a Florida lady is requesting prison time for her mother. The mother is opening up about her loss as she voices with a broken heart that her mother should be held responsible for her actions and punished by law for forgetting her toddler in a hot car. Seven-month-old Uriel Schock died in November 2022 after her grandmother, Tracey Nix, 65, told authorities she "just forgot" her in an SUV according to PEOPLE.

"If I'm objective — she needs to go to prison. As her daughter, it kills me to say it," the girl's mother, Kaila Schock, told the station, after the infant's death. According to a complaint affidavit from the Hardee County Sheriff's Office that WFTS acquired, the windows were rolled up when the temperature in Wauchula reached 90 degrees. "We were anxious, but I loved my mother and I am a daughter that wanted her mom in her life in some capacity, and at that moment, I thought that I could believe in second chances," revealed the heartbroken mum of the deceased baby.

The infant's passing occurred less than a year after Kaila's 16-month-old son, Ezra, also passed away while in her mother's care. According to reports, Nix, a former Hardee County school administrator, was asleep when Ezra supposedly drowned in a neighboring lake. The outlet, citing court documents reported that Nix has subsequently been charged with aggravated manslaughter in the death of her granddaughter in a hot car. She was, however, not accused in the death of her grandson in December 2021, which was ruled an accident by the investigating authorities as per NBC News.

Kaila's husband, Drew Schock, and the father of two deceased kids shared similar thoughts as he said, "You couldn't fathom it happening twice. Somebody has to answer for that." A statement provided to WFTS by William Fletcher, the legal representative for Nix, said, "Because somebody dies doesn't necessarily mean that somebody has to pay. This obviously was an accident and the question was — is it culpable negligence?"

Drew Schock told the outlet that he recalls being in the hospital's parking lot "trying to grasp what just happened. And that it actually ... just happened twice in our lifetime." The couple's 16-month-old son Ezra passed away in December 2021, also while in Nix's custody. According to court documents, Nix was watching the young kid when she dozed off. The youngster got lost outside and drowned in a pond close to her house. She wasn't put on trial for the event. It's unknown whether Nix has admitted guilt to the accusation. Her subsequent court date is set on May 2.
