Inspired by his role as a grandfather, he published a children's picture book in 2019 titled 'Hey Grandude.'
Famous Beatles musician, Sir Paul McCartney, 80, is a proud grandfather of eight. He has four grandchildren from his daughter Stella, named Miller, Bailey, Beckett, and Reiley, who are between the ages of nine and 14 and he has four grandchildren from his daughter Mary between the ages of eight and 20, Arthur, Elliot, Sid, and Sam, according to Irish News. In an interview with Chris Evans on his Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, McCartney shared, he sometimes picks up his grandchildren from school, and that it is a "joy". He said that he is "pretty normal" when it comes to his relationship with his eight grandchildren despite his fame and that they often go on holiday together, and added that he is a "terrific" grandparent. "You know, I love them and I love being a granddad."

While talking about how he spends time with his grandkids he said, "And we spend quite a good bit of time together. We don’t live near each other, but we go on holiday together, like at Christmas. And in the summer we'll see each other. And then sometimes me and (my wife) Nancy pick them up from school. So that’s nice." He added, "It's great fun you know because you don’t know how to do it like parenting. It's ad lib, it’s the biggest ad-lib. So when grand-parenthood comes around, it’s like, 'OK, what do we do here?' And so I say that joy is like picking them up at school and they love it."

He also came up with his own children's picture book in 2019 inspired by his role as a grandfather and his grandchildren. According to the Guardian, the book Hey Grandude follows Grandude, an elderly magical gentleman, and his adventures with his four grandchildren. "They (grandchildren) love him and they go on adventures with him and he's kind of magical, so you'll see that in the book. I wanted to write it for grandparents everywhere – and the kids – so it gives you something to read to the grandkids at bedtime," McCartney told the outlet.
He loves reading stories to his grandchildren, especially during holidays. Explaining the title, the former Beatles musician said, "I've got eight grandchildren and they're all beautiful and one day one of them said to me 'Hey Grandude!' I said 'What?' and I thought, I kind of like that, so from then on I was kind of known as Grandude." It is not new for McCartney to feel inspired by his family and create something beautiful. He even wrote the song Two of Us inspired by his relationship with his late wife. "That was one of those excursions, when we were first going out together, this great idea of getting lost," he had said.
Several media outlets have commented that his eldest grandson, Arthur Donald, son of his photographer daughter Mary, is observed to be McCartney's look alike. According to Best Life Arthur shares a resemblance in looks with his grandfather, especially during his time with The Beatles. They both have round faces and the same smile and eyes and also seem to have similar fashion tastes. After graduating from the prestigious Yale University in America, McCartney's doppelganger grandson began a career in finance, working as an investment banking analyst at Goldman Sachs, according to his Linkedin profile.
