"I identify myself as a parent and a husband way more than somebody who rides around on the back of an ant,’ he said.
Paul Rudd is pretty private about his romantic life but he's been in a relationship with his wife, Julie Yaeger for nearly 20 years! The pair walked down the aisle in 2003 and later went on to have two kids: son Sullivan and daughter Darby. Rudd's wife Yaegar started off as a publicist in the 1990s and that's about the time she met the love of her life. Professionally she switched careers and later went on to become a producer and screenwriter. In fact, she wrote Fun Mom Dinner, which her husband produced and starred in, according to Cosmopolitan.
During the time she was a publicist, Rudd walked into the office where Yaeger was working. He was fresh off the success of Clueless and was looking for a publicist. The two decided to get lunch a few days later and it was about to change their lives forever. "She was the first person I met in New York," he explained to Marie Claire UK in 2018. "We started talking and there was a maturity with her – she had experienced some tragedy in her life, I had too, and the impression I got was, wow, this is a woman. This isn't a girl." From that moment on he knew she was the one. Speaking of his family, he also joked to the outlet saying his kids aren't necessarily proud of him and see him as a "cool" father. "Oh, I'm still the embarrassing dad," he said at the time. "My daughter is eight and thinks I'm the bee's knees. My son is 13 and doesn't even want me going to his school. I make jokes to a series of eye rolls." Despite his kids reactions, the Ant-Man star admitted he's a family man more than anything else. "I identify myself as a parent and a husband way more than somebody who rides around on the back of an ant,’ he laughed referencing his role as the Marvel superhero.
The actor was titled PEOPLE's 2021 Sexiest Man Alive last year and quipped to the outlet that his wife "was stupefied," that he won the honor. "But you know she was very sweet about it. After some giggling and shock, she said 'Oh, they got it right.' And that was very sweet. She was probably not telling the truth, but what's she going to say?" He also joked that he's "hoping now that I'll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan. And I figure I'll be on a lot more yachts. I'm excited to expand my yachting life. And I'll probably try to get better at brooding in really soft light. I like to ponder. I think this is going to help me become more inward and mysterious. And I'm looking forward to that." A sense of humor is sexy, and Rudd surely has that covered!
