There is constant pressure on a person to look a certain way. People are made to believe that they are not worthy of being happy and in love if they don't have washboard abs and cellulite-free legs. Honestly, this obsession with the way people look has created way too many issues over centuries, but not much has been done in terms of learning to accept a person just the way they are and look beyond their appearance.
Especially if someone from the film industry puts on or sheds a few kilos, there are bound to be headlines slashed across pages and websites, talking about it.
Pierce Brosnan's wife of over two decades, Keely Shaye Smith—a journalist, author, television host, and actress—has been under constant scrutiny over her weight, ever since she got married to the James Bond star in 2001 after they started dating in 1994.
Brosnan and Smith welcomed their first son, Dylan, on January 13, 1997. They welcomed their second child together, a son named Paris, on February 27, 2001, per Hello Magazine.
Pregnancy is not easy on anyone, and Smith too, noticed her body change after giving birth to two beautiful babies. Her skin began to sag and her stomach was no longer flat. But that never was a problem for Brosnan, who still felt like his wife was the most beautiful woman on the planet.
When he was asked how he felt about her putting on a few extra kilos, the actor said, “Friends offered her surgery to reduce her weight… But I strongly love every curve of her body... She is the most beautiful woman in my eyes. And also because she had our children. In the past, I truly loved her for her person, not only for her beauty, and now I’m loving her even more [now] that she is my children’s mother, and I am very proud of her, and I always seek to be worthy of her love.”
Smith came into Brosnan's life at a time when he was at his lowest, having lost his first wife, Cassandra, to ovarian cancer. At that time, Smith was exactly what he needed. He was able to grieve his loss with Smith behind him, only to come back stronger than ever.
Here's the thing: looks change. Everyone is bound to age differently, and Smith just put on some weight as she aged, and gracefully, at that.
We've always seen people lose interest in others once their looks fade, making us believe that love is only skin-deep, but Pierce Brosnan is here to prove that love is forever, just like diamonds.
