Kate Middleton found her love in Prince William and is making headlines by engaging with the public and being one of the most ideal royal women. Meanwhile, her younger sister, Pippa Middleton is also living a life of royal but away from the media glare. She might not have married into the British royalty but found her prince charming in financier James Matthews. Their love story is raw, realistic, and beautiful.
Pippa and James tied the knot and mesmerizingin an extravagant wedding on 20th May, 2017. The stunning bride dressed in a custom made Giles Deacon gown was accompanied by a bridal party that consisted of her nephew, Prince George, and niece, Princess Charlotte along with her sister, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Before getting married, the couple knew each other for about 10 years. Their romantic journey was filled with highs and lows but eventually, they decided to make the commitment and spend the rest of their lives together.
Pippa first met James in 2007 at the luxury Eden Rock hotel, owned by James' parents on the Caribbean island of St. Barts. Their initial meeting allowed the couple to develop a good friendship. From then on, they stayed in touch and the destination ended up becoming a Middleton family favorite for vacations, according to Good House Keeping.
However, the progression of their friendship to romance did not happen overnight. Over the years, Pippa was dating other people and so was James. In 2012, Pippa was first spotted with the hedge fund manager on a date after her break-up from English cricket player Alex Loudon.
At the time, sources close to the couple stated that Pippa was head over heels for James. "Pippa is quite taken with James. She wants to take things slowly at first but she is ready for a full-time man in her life again," said a source, according to Good House Keeping. However, their romance ended within months. In 2013, rumors about their split surfaced when Pippa was seen with another man, Nico Jackson.
But that relationship was short-lived. After two years of romance, their love came to a standstill. "Pippa and her ex, Nico Jackson had been on the rocks for over a year, ever since he moved to Switzerland to work for a hedge fund. Long-distance love wasn't working," said a source about their break-up, according to EOnline.
This allowed the longtime friends to rekindle their relationship and explore a life together. "James has always been on the scene. He is super charismatic and charming, good looking and always held a torch for Pippa. They have always had insane chemistry, but Pippa was always in a relationship," said a source, according to EOnline. A month after the breakup, Pippa was seen with her former lover.
"[Matthews], Pippa and younger brother James took part in the Otilllo race, in which the competitors swim and run between 26 islands in Sweden. The group raised money for the Michael Matthews Foundation, set up in memory of James and Spencer's older brother who died in 1999 while descending the summit of Mt. Everest," said a source, according to EOnline.
The couple was seen enjoying their time together. Pippa and James also took international vacations and were even photographed together on several occasions. They seemed happy but nobody saw their engagement coming.
In July 2016, James went down on one knee for Pippa while they were visiting the Lake District, a national park in northwest England. Pippa accepted the proposal and was officially engaged. The multi-millionaire had popped the question with an art deco-style Asscher cut diamond ring with a central stone. The news was very well received by the Middleton family. "They make a wonderful couple and we wish them every happiness together," said the family, according to Town and Country Magazine.
Meanwhile, big sister Kate and Prince William stated that they, "are absolutely delighted with the news." Following the announcement of their wedding date, the couple was seen together at the Middleton family at a Christmas Day service at St. Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham along with the Royal Family. Their wedding was a grand affair. It was at St. Mark’s Church in Englefield, Berkshire. The couple now has a son together and they enjoy a blissful marriage.
