"She was my son's childhood love, so the grief of the moment stretches pretty deep right now," his father wrote.
On a routine training trip in Kentucky on March 29, 2023, two US Army Blackhawk helicopters crashed, killing nine people, including a sergeant who was expecting his first child. The heart-wrenching news was reported by PEOPLE as it went into the details about the incident and how Caleb Gore leaves behind a bereaved wife who will soon be a mum. According to WSMV, "The helicopters crashed just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday near Maple Grove Road and Lancaster Road in Cadiz," said Brig. Gen. John Lubas, a deputy commanding officer for operations at Fort Campbell’s 101st Airborne Division.
“This is a truly tragic loss for these families, our Division, and Fort Campbell. Our number one priority is caring for the families and the soldiers within our combat aviation brigade,” added the Brig. Gen. and deputy commanding general for operations as he expressed his sadness over the huge loss faced by the defense force of the USA. The nine people killed in the disaster were not immediately identified by the Army, but Pastor Tim Gore of Fremont Missionary Baptist Church in North Carolina revealed on the social media platform Facebook that one of the passengers was his son, Caleb Gore.
Gore was 25 years old as per the outlet and was a loving husband and son. The couple was also expecting a child which added to the grief of the family. "My precious son Caleb was killed in a tragic helicopter accident last night. He was the light of my world, and I have no words to express my grief right now. My words are my tears right now. Please pray for us all," wrote the father of the brave defense personnel on Facebook. The father, Time Gore shared his grief with the picture of the late Caleb with his then-girlfriend and later wife.
"The Army has deployed an aviation safety team from Fort Rucker, Ala., to conduct a thorough investigation into the accident," the statement released by the 101st Airborne Division said on March 30.
Tim informed WRAL that Haleigh, Caleb's wife, is expecting their first child. She is presently approximately three weeks pregnant, he added, "They just found out yesterday it was a boy," he said, sharing, "She was my son's childhood love, so the grief of the moment stretches pretty deep right now."
"Not just in the sense that he was in the army but just who he was as a person. He was a tank. He was literally a tank. If Captain America walked in the door, that's exactly what I would think he would look like,” added the dad who was in an emotional dilemma after the unforeseen tragedy. Meanwhile caring for the family of those who suffered the hard blow of the loss of their kin is the priority of the armed forces.
