As beautiful as the journey of motherhood may seem, it's not always a bed of roses. While most people are excited to find out they're pregnant, what they really worry about is the moment they go into labor because it can either be a piece of cake or a very painful affair. But, one woman who shared her birthing experience on TikTok said it's a story that always shocks people! According to Mirror, TikToker @beyondboss_ asked fellow users of the app to share their unusual birthing stories, and Amy Dunbar, from Canada, shared hers.
"This one was made for me," revealed @amyedunbar as she went on to explain how she'd given birth in her sleep. After 12 hours of painful labor, Dunbar was finally given an epidural that kicked in about an hour later. The nurse, who was monitoring her contractions, informed the mom that she had a big one but it seems like she slept through it.
However, minutes later, she woke Dunbar to tell her she couldn't find her baby's heartbeat. "Not even a minute after that, the nurse was waking me up saying she'd lost the baby's heartbeat on the monitor, but she said 'Don't worry, flip over and I'll find it, baby just probably moved'".
So, Dunbar was following the nurse's orders and was turning over when she noticed that something was off. "Doing what I was told, I moved the blanket and was turning over and I was like 'There's something going on." It's safe to say that no one in the room was prepared for what had happened.
"My baby was in the bed. She had delivered herself while I was asleep. That big contraction the nurse saw was her being born." That's where the first video ended, but the woman was kind enough to give everyone an update as to what happened after that shocking discovery.
"So I pulled back the blanket and she was laying in a ball on the bed and it just kind of blew up from there. My dad stepped out into the hall and yelled 'We need help! And all of a sudden so many doctors and nurses just flooded the room and she wasn't crying, so of course, I'm freaking out."
But she had nothing to worry about, because the nurses handed her back to Dunbar after doing a thorough examination, and assured her she was perfectly fine. "It was really scary but it turned out OK," Dunbar said. Since the video was shared, tons of people have commented under it. One person joked: "Baby's like I'll do it myself." Another commented: "Hi yes can you please write down whatever it is they gave you so I can ask for that, please? Thank you."
"This is what people don't understand. No need to scream push, push. If the baby is healthy and mom ok leave them alone. Baby WILL come out!" added one person. This really is a crazy story, isn't it?
