The family denied a few allegations made by the couple, and sources close to the royals spoke of how it widened the gap between the brothers.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's unprecedented interview with Oprah Winfrey had a huge impact on the British Royal family. Having not anticipated such honest revelations from the couple, the royal family seemed to be disappointed with Harry and Meghan. However, Harry seems to have the same courage as his mother, Princess Diana, who went public about her life in the palace. The family denied a few allegations made by the couple, and sources close to the royals spoke of how it widened the gap between the brothers.
However, the funeral of Prince Philip created an opportunity for Prince Harry and William to reconcile their relationship. Unfortunately, the brothers have not yet been able to move past their differences completely. Moreover, sources state William is upset with Meghan Markle for throwing his wife, Kate Middleton, under the bus.
"First and foremost, William cannot countenance the way Meghan has treated his wife. Kate attempted to try and help Meghan understand the responsibilities of royal life, but her efforts were constantly misinterpreted," said a royal insider, according to Mirror Online. They continued, "But to name Kate so publicly during the Oprah interview as the person who made her cry was beyond the pale. Meghan would have been acutely aware that Kate is powerless to fight back."
Royal author Penny Junor, too, believes the same. "I would have thought one of the things William was most cross about was the fact that Meghan threw Kate under the bus. It wasn't Harry, but it was his wife, and he must have known that she was going to do that and he clearly hasn't corrected it in any way," said Junor to Daily Express, according to Mirror Online. "I must say I would be pretty damn cross," she said.
During the tell-all interview, Meghan cleared the rumours that it was the Duchess of Cambridge who made her cry just before her wedding and not the other way around. "A few days before the wedding she was upset about something, pertaining to ... the flower girl dresses, and it made me cry. And it really hurt my feelings," said Meghan. The public statement is believed to have angered Prince William.
However, if you watched the interview, Meghan makes the above statements in response to Oprah's specific question on the reports that blamed Meghan for making Kate cry, days before the wedding. Many came forward to defend Meghan and Harry as they wondered why Kate and William did nothing to clarify the rumor in the first place, which showed Meghan in a bad light. Neither has William denied that it was Meghan who ended up in tears due to his wife's behavior.
Kate took the time to make sure that the Palace denied reports of her using Botox and Hair extensions, but nothing when tabloids said Meghan made her cry.

Meghan also revealed that some members of the family were worried about the skin colour of their then-unborn child, Archie. She also stated that the family did not support her during her mental health struggles and that she was suicidal during her pregnancy.
While sources claim William is still cross with his brother, the two were seen engaging in some conversations during the funeral of their grandfather. However, reports claim that the duo was more involved in small talk. Also, Harry shared some moments with his sister-in-law, who is trying her best to be the arbitrator between the two brothers.
“Being so close to her own siblings, Pippa and James, and having witnessed first hand the special bond between William and Harry, she has found the whole situation difficult and upsetting. Her natural instinct is to try to smooth things over," said a source to Telegraph.
As per Mirror, the brothers and their father spent some time at Frogmore Cottage to clear the air. However, their rendezvous was not long enough for them to resolve the issues between them. “There is no way this is the end of the crisis in their relationships but it’s a good gesture and a nice way to take the first step towards healing," said a source.
Meghan, on the other hand, did not attend the funeral due to medical advice from her doctor to avoid travel during her pregnancy.
