For young Princess Charlotte, her first Christmas walk at Sandringham was a moment to remember. Especially when she met a "starstruck" admirer.
Every year, the British royal family makes their way to Sandringham for Christmas and 2019 was no different. But this time, the fans had a surprise waiting for them. Joining the Queen and her lineage were her great-grandchildren, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. And for the young princess, it was her first ever Christmas-walk; one that would possibly be etched in her memories for years to come as she received a special gift from one of the bystanders.
As Princess Charlotte made her way outside the Church of St. Mary Magdalene with her mother, Kate Middleton, she was handed a ton of gifts, including a handmade Christmas angel. But while the young royal member was going around, chatting with those on the sides, there was one moment that was truly adorable. During her walk, she was given a bouquet of white roses by a six-year-old boy.
James Heather had picked out the flowers especially for the princess and had been waiting patiently for hours to give them to the princess. Even more special was the fact that young James had picked white roses because they were his mother, Nakita's favorite flowers. She told Mirror Online, "We'd been queuing since about half eight and James was really keen to see Charlotte. James managed to get to the front and was just stood there with his flowers. He had chosen the flowers himself and picked those because he knows they are my favourite. When they left the church, Kate came over and said, ' Are these for Charlotte?' and then James said 'yes' and handed them over."
And this moment between the two kids was extremely sweet. "Charlotte looked really shy and coy, but you could tell she was happy and then she said 'thank you'. James was so excited, but I think he was quite starstruck by her," said Nakita.
Customarily, any gifts handed to the royals would be passed on to the royal aide. But it seemed like Princess Charlotte's interaction with the boy was far more memorable as she clutched the bouquet close and refused to give it to the aide who had offered to carry them, according to People. Nakita said, "What made it all even sweeter was I watched her as she walked off and other people were giving her flowers which were handed to her protection officer, but she just wouldn't let go of James'. She kept them in her hand the whole time."
But this meeting wasn't just significant to Princess Charlotte. According to James' mother, the boy couldn't stop talking about meeting the princess. He took no effort at all in mentioning that the whole moment was very "exciting." He added, according to Mirror Online, "I was queuing up to see Prince George and Princess Charlotte and then Charlotte come over and i gave her the flowers. Kate first said are these for Charlotte and when I said yes, Charlotte said thank you."
Well, it's one Christmas neither of the toddlers is bound to forget any time soon.
