Weisz, who could never relate to romantic comedies, has one of the most romantic relationships in Hollywood today.
The greatest love stories are not always made by frequent declarations of love but by acting on the love you have for your partner.
Academy Award winner Rachel Weisz once did not believe in the institution of marriage or love stories but after almost a decade with Daniel Craig, she confesses she loves being married. Daniel Craig gradually changed her viewpoint about love and relationships and he did that by acting upon the love he has for her.
The actors went to the same art college and were friends for years but did not really feel anything more for each other through these years. "I'm going to change the subject... It wasn't really like that. We'd been friends for ages," said the actress on being asked about falling in love, as per Harper's Bazaar.
They were in relationships with other people but fate had something else in mind for them. In 2010, the two friends were cast in the movie, Dream House. This movie marked the beginning of a romance that would go on to become one of the most celebrated Hollywood romances. Being private individuals, the couple kept their relationship under wraps for months before tying the knot in 2011, six months into their courtship period.
It was a big step for Weisz who had never thought that she would get married, in fact, she revealed that she could never really relate to the idea of marriage. Weisz is happy about her decision and calls it a "mature moment."
"But I never thought I would get married. It was not an ambition of mine. It was the opposite. I couldn’t relate to romantic comedies – marriage seems to be the whole point of them. Then it just happened, happily, at a more mature moment," said the 50-year-old actress, according to Metro.
Married for nine years now, the couple has always been protective of their relationship. "He's just too famous. It would be a betrayal. You have to protect your marriage. When you're young, you tell your girlfriends everything. One of the great pleasures of not being an adolescent is that you don't have to share everything. When you're married, that door closes. The audience goes, and you're in your own life," said Weisz to Marie Claire.
In 2018, the lovely couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl. "Daniel and I are so happy. We’re going to have a little human. We can’t wait to meet him or her. It’s all such a mystery," the actress then expressed her happiness and excitement.
Despite having demanding careers, they try to spend as much quality time in each others' company as they can. They said that they enjoy being home and cooking together. "I love to cook. Daniel is also very good at it. We always enjoy trying out different kinds of cuisine and having fun with that," said The Favourite actress. They also added that they never discuss work at home. "There is nothing worse than two actors getting together and talking about acting. It’s like the end — it’s the worst," said Weisz to The Sun.
Today, Weisz is a proud mother and a wife who loves both her roles and it would not be wrong to say that she is a living example that love can change lives in the most expected and beautiful ways. Though Weisz was once apprehensive about getting married, today there is nothing more that makes her happy than being married. "I’m very happy being married, very, very happy... I love being Mrs. Craig... I’m Mrs. Craig on my checkbooks and passports and things."
We wish them many more years of love and togetherness.
