Ray Liotta's legacy lives on through Jacy Nittolo's heartfelt tribute, and she remains grateful for the support of loved ones during this difficult time.
Jacy Nittolo, the fiancée of late actor Ray Liotta, has opened up about her mourning process one year after his sudden death. The renowned Goodfellas star passed away in his sleep at the age of 67 in the Dominican Republic on May 26, 2022. On the anniversary of his passing, Nittolo, 48, took to Instagram to share photos of herself with Liotta and reflected on the year since his untimely departure. Nittolo recalled the profound impact of Liotta's death, expressing how her world was unexpectedly turned upside down. As she reflected on the year gone by, she was reminded of a truly touching and emotional incident from her life.
"A year ago today I was on a flight home from the Dominican Republic by myself in shock. My entire world unexpectedly turned upside down," she recalled," per PEOPLE. She had found solace in the presence of this kind stranger. "I’ll never forget the beautiful woman, a complete stranger, who sat next to me and didn’t say a word. She gently grabbed and held my hand the entire flight as I cried and looked out the window," Nittolo continued.
The compassion of this stranger wasn't just limited to her warm gesture when Nittolo was going through a difficult time. She did something more which moved Nittolo and gave her a comforting memory of a lifetime to hold on to. "When we landed she looked at me and said everything is going to be ok. You're going to be ok," she wrote. "I walked off the plane and met Ray's sister for a connecting flight to LA and I don’t know what I would have done without Linda that night," Nittolo added.
"It’s been a heavy year of pain, heartache, healing, growing, and accepting what is," shared Nittolo adding that she has been "learning to smile at what was." She concluded the post by wondering about what people say: "It supposedly gets easier with time." She further continued saying that she will keep going "trusting that all will be ok."
The support and love from Liotta's daughter, Karsen, as well as Nittolo's four children from a previous marriage (Dax, Chazz, Jade, and Joey), have been sources of strength for her throughout this challenging period. Nittolo also shared a poignant coincidence, revealing that her grandmother, who helped raise her, had also passed away on the same day, 20 years prior. Both losses, occurring on May 26, hold deep significance in her life. "She was the other love of my life and one of my favorites of all time," she shared.
Last year, just two days after Liotta's passing, Nittolo took to Instagram to express her love for him and the profound connection they shared. She described their relationship as one filled with laughter, inseparability, and wild chemistry. Nittolo emphasized that Liotta was her everything and that their love was the kind that people dream of. She praised his inner and outer beauty, underscoring the immense impact he had on her life.
As Nittolo marks one year since Ray Liotta's passing, she continues to navigate the grieving process. Despite the pain and heartache, she finds solace in the memories they created and the love they shared. Liotta's legacy lives on through Nittolo's heartfelt tribute, and she remains grateful for the support of loved ones during this difficult time.
