Everybody Loves Raymond fame, Ray Romano might be known as a beloved funnyman on screen but he is also a dedicated family man with an interesting love story. Born in New York City, Romano was a struggling comedian trying to make ends meet when he, fortunately, met a woman at work who stood by his side as he pursued his Hollywood dreams. After more than three decades of being together, the actor is still very much in love with his wife Anna. According to Suggest, Romano’s love story began pretty normally while working as a bank teller in the 1980s.

He met Anna Scarpulla in 1983, a co-worker in the bank he was working in, and managed to charm her with his sense of humor. Romano was trying his best to balance a full-time job and make a living with stand-up gigs at local comedy clubs. In an interview at In Depth With Graham Bensinger, Romano confessed that he “waited to ask her out until after he left the bank job," so he wouldn’t have to work with her every day if she said no. “There was less pressure because I could’ve sworn her answer was gonna be ‘no,’” Romano continued in the interview. “My batting average wasn’t that good so, I don’t know that I was A-list material as far as far as a potential boyfriend/husband.”

The duo continued dating until they tied the knot in 1987 and it was the same year when Romano decided to pursue standup comedy as his full-time job and ditched the one at the bank. He continues to sing praise for his wife Anna who never lost faith in him and remained supportive. In a 2009 interview with Redbook Magazine, Romano said a few things about his long-lasting marriage. “One of the secrets to our marriage is that there’s a lot of acceptance. Anna would be just as happy with me if I were a plumber,” he confessed.

According to Closer Weekly, the actor and his wife are proud parents, and he is an “involved” father to his four kids named Alexandra, Gregory, Matthew, and Joseph. Ray and Anna’s twin boys, Gregory and Matthew have followed in the footsteps of their father and stepped into the entertainment business but they prefer to work behind the cameras. Gregory Romano is currently a production assistant on The Late Late Show With James Corden and Matthew works on the sets of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
