The two have known each other since 1991, but they only got together in 2020, after McEntire's mom passed.

Being in love is one of the greatest feelings in the world, but unfortunately, it doesn't always last. When Reba McEntire's 26-year-long relationship ended, she felt she was done with love for good. After all, she'd spent close to three decades with ex-husband Narvel Blackstock, before it came to a devastating end in 2015.
Life did have other plans for her, and for a brief period, she did end up dating Anthony “Skeeter” Lasuzzo, a soft-spoken retired oil geologist. He came into her life at a rather unexpected moment, one even she herself wasn't prepared for. "I was not looking. Not even interested," she told PEOPLE about her mind frame after the divorce. But, that's just how life is, throwing surprises at you.
She was on a vacation tour of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, with a friend of her pal Kix Brooks in August 2017 when she met Lasuzzo. He, being a wildlife photographer, showed her and her pal around, and soon, a romance began to bloom. Things went fine for a while, but in 2019, the two were headed for splitsville, per USA Today.
But, you know what they say: what's meant to be will always find a way!
McEntire actually found her soulmate when she lost a very important person in her life—her mother. McEntire lost her mom in March 2020 due to cancer. Rex Linn called to check up on her, just to see how she was coping with the loss, and since then, the two have been attached at the hip!
“Rex and I have known each other since ’91 when we were in ‘The Gambler’ movie together with Kenny Rogers and then have known each other, kept in contact,” the country music legend told TODAY. “And then in 2020 when Mama got sick, he called me," she added. “We’d gotten to see each other before because we’re both on ‘Young Sheldon.’ So starting in March of 2020, we just kept talking and visiting and finally got together, see each other in June. And we’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since.”
Since then, they've even spoken about tying the knot, reveals McEntire. “We’ve talked about it and giggled about it,” McEntire told Extra last week. “We thought, ‘Man if we ever did have a ceremony, we would have to have a 2 o’clock, 4 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and an 8 o’clock because we have so many friends, acquaintances, and family.”
It's just that the two of them get along so well, it's almost like it was meant to be. “He loves to work, I love to work… We were both wannabe cowboys, cowgirls then got into the entertainment business. We have a lot of similar loves and passions… We just get along so well. I’m so grateful.”
