“I particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care," the actress shared.
Rebel Wilson is a first-time mom! The Pitch Perfect star announced the birth of her daughter on Monday sharing a sweet snap of the newborn. The 42-year-old captioned the image, "Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate." Wilson showed gratitude to all those involved in her journey, especially her surrogate.
"I can't even describe the love I have for her, she's a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…but particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care. Thank you for helping me start my own family, it's an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!" Wilson continued, "I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club."
According to NBC News, Wilson also shared a photo of herself wearing a pink dress and holding pink balloons next to a pile of boxes that read out the word “BABY” in her Instagram stories. The baby announcement comes days after she denied rumors of being engaged to her girlfriend, Ramona Agruma. “Thanks for the well-wishes, but we are NOT engaged,” Wilson wrote in her Instagram Story, alongside a photo of the couple at Disneyland in California that has since disappeared.
In June, Rebel Wilson announced she was in a serious romantic relationship with fashion and jewelry designer Ramona Agruma who Wilson lovingly called a "Disney Princess." Previously Wilson herself spoke about being set up with her new partner "through a friend" but didn't reveal who it was. "We spoke on the phone for weeks before meeting. And that was a really good way to get to know each other," she said. "It was a bit old-school in that sense — very romantic." The Senior Year actress continued, "I think going through the process of finding more self-worth, I think that what you want in a partner is elevated and so it's great to have someone who feels like an equal partner and be in a healthy relationship. There were times — I'm not saying with all my exes, they're great — but there were some times that I was probably putting up with that I shouldn't have. So it feels different to be in a really healthy relationship."
Wilson has also been vocal about her struggles with pregnancy and fertility. She had dubbed 2020 as the "year of health" for herself after which she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome. At that time, she had told in an interview, "I like being all sizes. It's just now turning 40, I am more health-conscious and thinking of starting a family." According to PEOPLE, a fertility doctor told Wilson in 2019 that she'd have a much better chance of harvesting and freezing her eggs if she lost weight. Although she initially found him rude, she then "thought of a future child's needs that really inspired me to get healthier." She added, "I only started thinking of fertility when I was 39 so you feel quite late but then there are women in their mid-40s who've been successful."
