The Legally Blonde actress' husband has made sure that she knows what it feels like to have a good man in her life.
The older we get, the more aware we become of what we want in a relationship, and the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with. We become aware of what makes a good person and a good partner, and if that matches our own value system. For some people, it might be a matter of trial and error before they understand what is it that they value, while for a few others, they'll know right from the start. Regardless of where you stand, there might be things that you value in a significant other, just like actress and producer Reese Witherspoon does.
Witherspoon had been married to fellow Cruel Intentions star Ryan Philippe from 1999 to 2007. They fell in love when they were fairly young, and went on to have two children together. However, a decade after their divorce, a mature Witherspoon said in 2017 that one of the reasons their marriage fell apart was because of her age.
"I got married when I was 23 and I had two kids by the time I was 27. So I don’t know, you know, sometimes it’s good to know yourself," she said, as per Cheatsheet. While she doesn't want to "change anything" in her life, she advises her daughter that only "[at] 25, you start to know yourself a little bit better."
The now mother-of-three has since remarried and is happy to be with a man who keeps her smiling every day.
The Legally Blonde star married talent agent Jim Toth in 2011 and they have a son, Tennessee, together. The proud wife who loves showing up for the important events, like the Golden Globe, with her husband opened up about what makes him the perfect fit for her and how he's a great father to their kids.
Soon after their 5th wedding anniversary in 2016, the Oscar winner told People, "He’s an incredible man, a wonderful organizer, a great leader. He knows how to get people together,” she said, adding that, "He’s very patient and funny with the kids. And he really encourages them to see the humor in life."
Speaking about her later father-in-law, she said, "He was a real guy’s guy, which is how my husband is, too. His guy friends are really close to him in life, so that’s nice."
The couples enjoys the simple things in life together as well like sleeping in the next day. "Going to a nice dinner and not having to wake up at the crack of dawn with the kids" is her idea of a nice date. In February 2020, she shared photos of her and Toth on Valentine's Day captioned, "Me and My Valentine! Instagram vs. Reality." It included photos of Witherspoon, 43, and Toth, 50, looking sharp in the “Instagram” shot and comfortably dressed in the "Reality" shot, according to People.
It's great to see that even all these years later, the couple is right by each other's side. For the 2020 Golden Globe, Toth walked the red carpet with his wife, who had a nomination for her leading role in the Apple TV+’s hit series, The Morning Show.
The best part of their relationship is that Jim told her, "I’m gonna show you every day what a good partner is, what a good person is. I'm going to take care of you. I'm gonna do this so much that you're gonna get used to it." Reese told Elle, "I was like 'What are you talking about?' I’ve never had anybody like that in my life."
