"There is no drama with Jim. They co-parent and this is the focus," an insider shared.
Reese Witherspoon is healing after splitting from Jim Toth this year. The Academy Award winner, 47, cited "irreconcilable differences" as the basis for their divorce when she filed for it on Saturday, April 1, in the Circuit Court of Davidson County, Tennessee. Witherspoon and Toth, 52, earlier said the "difficult decision" to divorce came after "a great deal of care and consideration."
The Oscar winner and her talent-agent husband announced their decision in a joint statement just days before their 12-year wedding anniversary. "We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and are moving forward with deep love, kindness, and mutual respect for everything we have created together," they said in an Instagram post on March 25. They share a 10-year-old son, Tennessee James.
The Legally Blonde star is also mom to daughter, Ava Elizabeth, 23, and son Deacon Reese, 19 whom she shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. "Our biggest priority is our son and our entire family as we navigate this next chapter. These matters are never easy and are extremely personal. We truly appreciate everyone's respect for our family's privacy at this time," the statement added.
An insider told PEOPLE that while the decision to divorce was "not an easy one" for the actress, and producer, she "is just focused on her kids and work" more than three weeks after the pair announced their split. "The divorce decision was not an easy one for her. It was rough to reach the decision and to announce it," the source shared.
"Reese is doing much better now though. She has no regrets and is just focused on her kids and work." The actress is leaning on "a big group of loyal friends" as she heals from the split. The insider also noted that there is no bad blood between the exes stating, "There is no drama with Jim. They co-parent and this is the focus."
Witherspoon also walked the red carpet on April 13 for the premiere of The Last Thing He Told Me for which she is an executive producer. This was her first appearance on the red carpet since announcing her divorce from Jim Toth, per E News. She appeared to be smiling and happy as she arrived at the Regency Bruin Theatre in Los Angeles.
Witherspoon and Toth first announced their engagement in December 2010, and they later wed in March 2011 in a laid-back ceremony on her ranch in Ojai. On their 10th wedding anniversary, she paid tribute to her partner on Instagram saying, "Celebrating 10 years of marriage to my sweet hubby. What a special day with all of our dear friends. Looking back, I can’t believe it has gone so quickly! I guess that’s how it goes with 3 kids, Big LOVE, lots of laughing, non-stop travel, so many dogs, and fun adventures... figuring out this crazy world together. Here’s to many more days in the sun! I ❤️ you, JT."
