Nobody is ever prepared when an accident takes place and that can be one of the most tragic things that can happen to a family. However, if the harm inflicted is intentional, and it comes from the person with whom one wanted to start a family, it can shatter her life. So many women have lost their lives to intimate partner violence, and it is a shame that it still continues at this rate. Domestic violence is a pandemic in multiple countries.

A pregnant woman who was getting ready to welcome her child into this world will never be able to see her grow up. She had hopes and dreams for her child but her life was cut short tragically. The New Jersey woman, who was eight months pregnant, was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl but wasn't able to nurse her baby or raise her either. The child is likely going to grow up without ever knowing their biological parents because of what the father did.

31-year-old Remy Lee was shot multiple times by a 30-year-old Paterson man in broad daylight. He surrendered to police on October 31 for killing Remy, according to NBC New York. According to prosecutors, Donqua Thomas, the child's father, waited 90 minutes in his vehicle outside the victim's home in Paterson. Remy parked her car next to Donqua's and when she tried to get out, he shot her immediately and ran off.

While Remy made it to the hospital soon enough to deliver a healthy baby, she succumbed to her injuries, according to NBC New York. "It was my baby's father,” Remy told first responders after she was hit with multiple gunshots, according to a police affidavit obtained by People. The 31-year-old was returning from a doctor's appointment when she was accosted. The mom-to-be likely got updates about her child and would have discussed a birthing plan with her doctor. She was likely hopeful about her future and the future of her child. However, her future ended too soon and her child's future is now uncertain. The baby was due on November 17, as per her registry, but the child came earlier.

She was taken to the hospital after neighbors heard the multiple gunshots and rushed out only to find the woman lying on the pavement. She said that "Quay" shot her. She was referring to the father of her child, who goes by that name.

She was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where her child was delivered. Donqua surrendered himself afterward and was charged with first-degree murder and weapons offenses. The investigators said the shooting happened after a domestic dispute between the two.

No details about the baby have been released. However, authorities say that it is in stable condition, as per NBC New York. NorthJersey.com reported that the child was a girl, and Remy had another daughter. Donqua was not the father of her first child. Remy lived with her mother at the Brooks-Sloate Terrace apartment complex in Paterson’s 1st Ward, and her estranged partner lived with his mother near Vreeland Avenue, which is on the other side of the city. It is not known what prompted him to attack her.

If the father of the child is convicted of murder, he can face life in prison. With Remy dead and Donqua in jail, the child is likely to land up in foster care, unless any family member takes the baby in.
