He weighed a mere 38 pounds, which was almost 45 pounds less than his healthy weight, when he was found in January 2021.
The story of Ethan, the rescue dog, is one of the most inspiring ones you will hear all week probably. In January 2021, he was found alone in a parking lot of the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS). He weighed a mere 38 pounds, which was almost 45 pounds less than his healthy weight. He was so weak he couldn't even lift his head.
He was taken to an emergency animal hospital, and in the first week of February, he returned to KHS. The dog was able to take his first unassisted steps after being found in the parking lot of the KHS.
"OUR BABY HAS TAKEN HIS FIRST STEPS! While he is wobbly and learning to use his legs again, this is huge progress and deserves to be celebrated. Less than a week ago, he was on death's door, and now he is finally able to walk a little again," KHS wrote on Facebook. They also thanked people for donating to keep Ethan healthy and alive.
In another update, they shared how much weight he gained, which was around 21 pounds in just over a week. "It has officially been one week since Ethan was dumped at the Kentucky Humane Society mere hours away from death. In that week, we've watched him go from a living skeleton to this beautiful soul who has fought with everything in him to survive. Ethan has a special kind of resilience that has really spoken to people near and far. He is a reminder that we have the ability to overcome even the worst of circumstances. This morning Ethan weighed in at a solid 59.4 lbs- he has gained 21 lbs since last Friday when he arrived," said KHS on February 5.
After weeks and weeks, Ethan is now a healthy dog, and also a working professional. That's right. He has nabbed the role of new Chief Tasting Officer for Busch Beer's Dog Brew, according to People.
"We reviewed many great candidates for Chief Tasting Officer, but we've finally found our top dog," the company wrote on Facebook. "Meet Ethan! He had a fur-rific resume and story that will inspire us for years to come. Ethan was found abandoned and fighting for his life in the Kentucky Humane Society parking lot, but beat all odds to become the healthy, good boy he is today," they added. "Ethan is known for inspiring those in his local community and will continue to inspire more as our official Dog Brew Chief Tasting Officer," they added.
His family also posted on a page dedicated to the inspiring dog. "In less than 4 months, he has come from being someone’s burden, someone’s afterthought, and not only survived but thrived and is now being recognized on a national level. I’m so grateful to Busch!" a post read. "There are a lot of ways they could have gone. But they chose Ethan!!" they added. "There is just something about this boy!" they added.
Ethan's story shows how showing love and care to creatures can save their lives. He will continue to inspire that the thought that when humans decide show kindness to rescue animals, there can be a happy ending.
