Richard Gere Makes His Wife Feel Like the ‘Luckiest Woman in the World’ by Writing Romantic Songs

"What could be more romantic than a man who writes you songs every day?" she shared.

Richard Gere has been in the spotlight since he began acting in the 1970s. He's made a name for himself in the industry, even though he had a very challenging childhood.

In general, the Pretty Woman star has avoided controversy in his personal life. He's proven to be an honest man who isn't hesitant to speak up on topics he is passionate about.

The actor is best known for his work in romantic comedies, though his range of abilities go well beyond that.

"My career has never been thought out. I never engineered a career. I just have always done whatever I wanted. You’re restricted by what you’re offered… but the incredible list of brilliant directors and actors and writers I’ve worked with, you know I’m kind of amazed myself that I’ve been able to ride this career this long with such good people," he told the Independent in 2017.

Gere got married to Alejandra Silva in April 2018 and the couple welcomed two sons. Their first boy,  Alexander, born in 2019, and their second son, whose name has not been revealed, was born in 2020, per Hollywood Life.

To be honest, Gere has set some serious relationship goals with the kind of charaters he's portrayed in his movies, but it seems like he exudes romance even off camera, too.

Gere first visited Alejandra's family-owned hotel in Positano in 2014, the couple crossed paths with each other for the first time. Alejandra turned to Buddhism and relocated to New York when they fell in love, and they married in a beautiful wedding on Richard's ranch outside of New York City, reports Hello! Magazine.

"A friend introduced us, we looked at each other and felt a very strong connection. We couldn't stop looking at each other all night, and since then we haven't been apart," she said.

They both were dealing with their own divorces when they met and it were their common struggles that brought them closer to each other. "Love stories with a complicated beginning, where you have to overcome difficulties together, can bring you closer... I'm sure I did [have some doubts] at some point. In the beginning, he was more convinced than me. But from very early on, we felt that we were destined to be together," added Silva.

"Without a doubt, I feel like the luckiest woman in the world… What could be more romantic than a man who writes you songs every day?" she shared.

Gere also called himself "the happiest man in the universe," after marrying Silva. "How could I not be? I'm married to a beautiful woman who is smart, sensitive, committed to helping people, who's fun, patient, who knows how to forgive, who's a great cook – and who makes the best salads in the world!" he explained

The couple has a large age gap of 20 years but that does not bother either of them. "In this life it had to be like this. He has promised me at least 20 good years! I have to confess that he has much more energy than me; he's much more active. I find it hard to keep up with him. He's not human!" she said.

"It's the sweetest, most romantic dream I've ever had. That's why I've decided to stay in it!"
