"I think that the whole world deserves to live with love, in all its meanings," Alejandra Silva said.
Richard Gere and his wife Alejandra Silva recently gave the world a rare sneak peek of their 3-year-old son, Alexander. Silva took to Instagram last week to share a family snap of the couple as two shadowy figures while little Alexander took center stage wearing a pair of pink pants, a cream-colored sweater, and a pair of bright green rain boots. The 73-year-old Pretty Woman actor and his 39-year-old Spanish publicist wife seemed like they were jumping with joy in the background with their hands up in the air to show their young son their elongated shadows. Silva captioned the photo: "Daddy, mommy and Alexander."
The couple secretly tied the knot in 2018 in an intimate ceremony after dating for over three years. Silva announced the news at the time writing: "Today is the day I married the most wonderful man I have ever met, I know it sounds cliché but it’s true!! Comes from my heart, I'm so proud to be with you, to share this life with you, to be the mother of our children, to be your friend, to be your Wife! You make me sooo happy! You are the love of my life."
According to ET Online, this is Gere's third marriage. He was previously married to Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995 and to Carey Lowell from 2012 to 2016. The star has a 22-year-old son named Homer from his marriage with Lowell. According to PEOPLE, Silva has a 9-year-old son named Albert from a previous marriage. Aside from Alexander, Silva and Gere also share another son whom they welcomed in April 2020.
Silva and Gere have known each other for over a decade, and first began dating in 2014. Although they share a 33-year age gap, neither seems to mind. Silva previously told Hola magazine that they share a passion for philanthropy.
During a visit to Silva's family's estate a few years ago, Gere accompanied her to the RAIS Foundation in Madrid which is a charity for the homeless and disadvantaged, that the two support. "Having his support makes me so happy," Silva shared at the time. During the interview, she also revealed that she is interested in the religion of Buddhism. "I had the honor of meeting the Dalai Lama and I don't have words to describe the experience. I can only say that being next to him gave me an incredible peace. It was magical," she said.
Although the couple started off their relationship over long distance with Silva in Madrid and Gere in upstate New York, they didn't let it come in between them. "I've always thought that long-distance relationships are complicated," she shared. "But these days with all the technology we have, let me assure you that it's much easier." Silva also mentioned that love was a very vital aspect of her life. "Who isn't it important to? I think that the whole world deserves to live with love, in all its meanings. So, yes, love is fundamental in my life," the Spanish businesswoman said.
