Robert de Niro, 79, Reveals Newborn Baby Girl’s Name & Shares Her First Photo | The Parents Are "Over the Moon"

Oscar-winner Robert De Niro has shared the first public photo of the latest addition to his family. The 79-year-old recently revealed that he has welcomed his seventh child, a baby girl, into the world with his partner, martial arts instructor, Tiffany Chen. The photo of De Niro’s newborn daughter appeared on a CBS Mornings segment on Thursday, May 11, per PEOPLE. The baby who was born on April 6, weighing 8 lbs. 6 oz was seen wearing a pink-and-white striped footed onesie in the newly released image. As for the little one's name, say hello to—Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro.

De Niro shared the first details of his new arrival with host Gayle King. King said the couple is "over the moon" about the newest member of the family. “Robert De Niro and his partner, that’s Tiffany Chen, are over the moon about this little girl,” King said. She noted that De Niro who is almost 80 years old told her, “This baby is planned. They both wanted this baby.”

The host had interviewed De Niro days before he revealed the news about his seventh child while promoting his upcoming film, About My Father. The Taxi Driver actor didn’t want the baby news to distract from the movie, according to King. She believes he didn't intend to “dodge” his baby news during their interview. “He’s just living his life, he’s very private,” she said, per HuffPost.

The actor first revealed the news in an interview with ET Canada, while speaking on the topic of fatherhood which came up while discussing his new movie. He was told, “I know you have six kids,” to which De Niro said, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby." The actor has six children from previous relationships. His eldest is Drena, 51, whom De Niro adopted when he married her mother, Diahnne Abbott, in 1976. He also shares Raphael, 46, with Abbott. In 1995, he welcomed twin sons Julian and Aaron, 27, with his former girlfriend, model-actress Toukie Smith. He later had two children with his second ex-wife, Grace Hightower: Elliot, 25, and Helen Grace, 11.

The Goodfellas actor is reflecting on fatherhood after welcoming his seventh baby. While speaking to Access Hollywood at the premiere of his new film the veteran actor opened up about being a dad and shared what he thinks constitutes being a good father. "Sometimes I don't think people really know what being a good father is, you know you have a responsibility, but it's a mystery, it's a lot of excitement but scary and you do your best," he said.
