Twins Paige and Jocelyn recently celebrated their 38th birthday.
Ron Howard and his wife, Cheryl have been together for over 50 years together. Over that time they raised four children—Bryce Dallas, Reed and twins Paige and Jocelyn. They are also grandparents to six grandchildren. The Howards come from a long line of Hollywood professionals. Their grandfather, Rance, was an actor, as is their uncle Clint.
Paige followed in her father's footsteps and became an actress but her twin, Jocelyn, has kept her life extremely private. Recently the twins celebrated their 38th birthday, and their father took to Instagram to share a "little song" he wrote for them. "I thought I’d share the little song I wrote while we were waiting for you two to arrive!" he captioned the post. "Our old friend Mark Wheeler added the recorder and edited this video together. Enjoy!" the post mentioned. The 68-year-old director paired it with a sweet video montage of moments from the family's life before the twins were born.
The director often shares sweet posts of his family including that of the twins on Instagram. He said that after they were born, his life changed in a "profound" way. In one birthday post, he noted that the couple's lives "changed in the most profound, mysterious and magical ways when Cheryl and I were blessed by the arrival of these two on this day in ‘85. Fraternal twins Jocelyn & @paigecarlylehoward were born into our lives. I’ve learned so much about life by being their dad. Happy Birthday, Daughters. And thanks for the joy, love and amazing-ness you’ve each brought to our family in your own unique ways." In another post, he called them his "beautiful wonderful smart kind fraternal twins" who "always cracked me up and made me smile. They make me proud, too."
Ron Howard has appeared in TV shows such as The Andy Griffith Show and Happy Days in addition to films such as American Graffiti. Howard made his directorial debut in 1977 with Grand Theft Auto. One of his best-known works includes A Beautiful Mind for which he won the Academy Award for Best Director in 2002.
Aside from a lucrative career, he also loves being a family man. He met his wife in high school and the two soon fell in love and tied the knot in 1975. “People say, ‘How’d you do it?’ There’s no technique. There’s no tactic other than communication is really important. You have to learn to communicate and have difficult conversations in constructive ways,” Howard told PEOPLE in 2019. “Beyond that, there’s an element of luck because people either grow together or they don’t and I don’t think you can force that,” he added.
Howard also credited Cheryl for being by his side throughout his career. “She’s unbelievably supportive and always has been,” Howard said of his wife. “Our compatibility has endured through all kinds of experiences.” He added, “[Cheryl] has made so many good things possible, and so many difficult things manageable. I’m forever grateful.”
