Roseanne Barr was seen a few days ago for the first time after she turned 70. On Thursday, November 3, the renowned and divisive comic turned 70. She was spotted at the Los Angeles Airport with her son Jake Pentland while sporting a gold hat and big Versace earrings, as per BACKGRID. Roseanne was dressed in a comfy black shirt, slim leggings, and pajamas while clutching her phone in her right hand and a brown bag as well. She also wore a Chanel Gold-tone Perfume Bottle Charm Necklace.
Jake Pentland, her son, was with her and was seen toting a piece of black luggage and a bag on his back. He also opted for a more laid-back appearance, donning a pair of track pants, a zip-up jacket, and a grey t-shirt. The talk show, The Tipping Point made Jake a name for himself as an actor, director, and producer. Roseanne Barr discussed her weeks spent in hiding in her first public appearance since her show Roseanne was canceled as a result of her racist tweet, according to PEOPLE. “I was afraid to go out, and also because when you’re called a racist and you live on an island full of brown people, it’s kind of terrifying,” she told the rabbi.
The author of Roseanne: My Life as a Woman discussed her turbulent childhood and early struggles before breaking into Hollywood in an excerpt for PEOPLE. Roseanne became a mother for the first time in 1971 when she was 18 years old. She had a daughter at the time named Brandi Brown, but the child was eventually adopted by another family. Roseanne married Bill Pentland in 1974. The She-Devil actress and her first husband, an executive consultant for the Rosanne program, had Jessica, their first child together, in 1975 after getting married. When Roseanne gave birth to their second daughter, Jennifer, in 1976, followed by their eldest son, Jake, in 1978, the couple experienced parenthood once again.
In 1988, the Emmy winner and Brandi, her first child, reconnected. In an interview with PEOPLE a year later in 1989, Roseanne recalled the tale of how the mother-daughter pair eventually got back together, saying she had originally written a message for Brandi and intended to present it to her in 1992. “I had left information allowing her to find me when she turned 21. I had even told my own kids about the adoption a year earlier because I knew she was 17 and might try to find me,” Roseanne shared. After 16 years of marriage, the Nanny alum divorced Bill, leaving her a single mother of four children, but she found new love with Tom Arnold the same year. Roseanne and Tom did not have children together, and after only four years of marriage, they divorced in 1994.
