"I, who found it difficult to find partners, have found love in my children and my work," Sally Field said in one of her interviews.
In addition to being a well-known actress, Sally Field is the mother of three adult sons, Samuel Greisman, Eli Craig, and Peter Craig. Although her children are grown up, the Oscar winner is still actively involved with her family. In August 2021, the celebrity was devoted to becoming a wonderful grandma to her five grandkids Isabel, Sophie, Ogden, Noah, and Colin. In a rare interview with Closer Weekly, Sally Field discussed her experience as a mother and why she never remarried.
"I, who found it difficult to find partners, have found love in my children and my work," Sally told the entertainment outlet. After her divorce, the Steel Magnolias actress focused all of her efforts on parenting her kids while managing her job. Field has stayed devoted to her children even though they are all adults and has stated that she does not wish to date since they are the center of her "existence." The mother of three previously remarked that the reason she wasn't married was because she didn't lead a separate life from her kids. She referred to them as her "family" and "everything."
Field acknowledged that she had discovered another kind of love even though she might never be in another relationship again. Samuel, Field's youngest son, spoke candidly about growing up with the actress and how she was always there for him when he needed her. "I've always been a momma's boy — painfully, occasionally ashamedly so. Perhaps too obsessed with her," he said. He went on to say that maybe he feels obsessed with her because he was a "shy kid" and "my mom was a safe space."
"Maybe it's because gay men feel a certain undeniable affection for award-winning actresses. Who knows! Whatever it is, we have always been incredibly close," he stated in an open letter to PEOPLE. He also described how his mother was always there for all her kids. Samuel also had the privilege of announcing her third Oscar nomination. After he congratulated Field, she hugged her son and did something which moved Samuel. "'I did it, Sammy,' she whispered. Though my mother has always been my protector, it's moments like those that have been the greatest gift." Samuel cherished realizing that she was more than just his "mom" and that she was her person.
Field didn't have a fantastic love past, but her kids fared well. She had been performing on television for more than 50 years, but in the past, she also had time for her personal life. The actress dated Burt Reynolds for a very long period before being married twice. Since then, the actress hasn't been in a relationship for years, but she isn't sad about it. The Oscar winner said she was "really happy" with how she was doing.
