Sam and his wife katharine, who share one daughter have been deeply hurt after a fire disaster where their fairy tale life hasn't been the same since
Sam Elliott and his wife Katharine Ross have been married for nearly three decades. And they are one of the fortunate few who have lasted that long in the film industry. They originally met on the set of a movie, and their romance progressed from reel to real, and they had been in love ever since. So, let's go back in time to 1978, when they first met, and maybe we'll learn the key to a long-lasting, developing, and empowering love like theirs along the way. Although Sam Elliott and Katharine Ross both worked in the entertainment world, they didn't meet until 1978. Sam Elliott's wife, Katharine Ross, was at the height of her career at the time, having played famous parts such as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate (1967) and Etta Place in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969).
According to countrythangdaily, Katharine Ross's husband, Sam Elliott, on the other hand, was just beginning out in his profession. He was an extra in a bar scene in Ross' Butch Cassidy, but he didn't dare to approach her at the time. And they never actually met throughout the filming. Then they got the lead parts in the 1978 horror thriller The Legacy. It all started when the two played the American couple in England. Ross was still married to his then-fourth husband, Gaetano Lisi, at the time of filming. They divorced a year later, and she married Elliott in 1984. Hers was his first and only marriage.
As the saying goes, behind every successful guy lies a woman with a strong intuition. Elliott's agent phoned him for an audition when the pair was vacationing in Hawaii at the time. He declined to return to the audition since he was still on his honeymoon. But Sam Elliott's wife had a different opinion, so she contacted his agency back and promised to get her husband back in time for the audition. She was, indeed, correct. Elliott's breakthrough role came in the 1985 picture Mask, when he received critical acclaim for his portrayal. His performance as Cher's biker lover Gar got almost as much critical acclaim as the film's top-billed actors, Eric Stoltz and Cher. In addition to a flourishing profession, he and his wife had their daughter Cleo Rose on September 17, 1984, the family settled in their rural ranch in Malibu. The lovely home was built with wood in 1983 and spans over 3000 square feet, with three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a massive stone fireplace, dark wooden accents, an open kitchen, and a lofty wooden beam.. "It completes me. I've been married once, and I have one daughter, whom I love more than anyone in the world. And that's where my world is."
For years, he and his family had spent their time at the quaint ranch. Unfortunately, they did not anticipate the disaster that would befall them. Sam's family home was engulfed in flames, but he and the firefighters saved it. Elliott will always remember 2018 as a memorable year. It began nicely, with the actor appearing in the new film "A Star Is Born." However, Elliott was involved in a fatal occurrence near the conclusion of the year. In November 2018, while promoting his role in the film, the movie star's property was destroyed by the Malibu forest wildfire. During a conversation with EW, Elliott mentioned that he helped the firefighters put out the fires. It was a harrowing event for the actor, who remembered seeing the house behind his property and the man next door burn to the ground. Fortunately, Elliott's home was spared destruction. Although the sad event remained fresh in his mind, the Hollywood celebrity was glad for what little of his property survived. He admitted to EW in February 2019 that the area was rebounding back. In the actor's own words, "A lot of it is very green now, it's coming back, and eventually, it will all come back, but it's going to be a long time. A lot of people lost everything. We know people who lost everything. You know, a thousand homes burned or whatever. It's a horrific thing."
The greenery around the rural ranch has returned four years after the blaze, and the actor, his wife, and their daughter enjoy a peaceful family life. Elliott and Ross are enjoying their 38-year marriage, which the former occasionally brags about. During a 2017 interview, the actor revealed the key to his long-lasting marriage. In his own remarks (as reported by NPR), "I think it really boils down to our love, and we work at it. And I think more importantly than anything, it takes wanting to be married."
