Sandra Bullock has portrayed many iconic characters on screen, and the actress has often charmed us with her comic prowess. But, in real life, she's been through some really difficult moments, especially in her marriage. She split with her ex-husband, Jesse James, in 2010 after it was revealed that he cheated on her multiple times. Many women claimed that he had an affair with them, while he was married to the Oscar-winning actress.
According to ET, James issued a public apology to his ex-wife, stating, "There is only one person to blame for this whole situation, and that is me. It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve everything bad that is coming my way."
Before splitting up, the Two Weeks Notice actress and James had started the process of adopting a child together. After the divorce, Bullock went ahead alone and became a single mom to Louis. While James lamented about losing his son, the child became a pillar of support for his mother without even trying. He helped Bullock to get back up n her feet when she didn't know how.
"I've been on the floor and I've been heartbroken. I didn't know how I was going to stand up. But I just gave it time. You don't think it will pass when you're in the middle of it, but it does. I'm so lucky to have what I have. I have a beautiful child and friends and family I adore," she said, according to Mirror. The actress initially thought that she was going to be "permanently heartbroken" and had gone into hiding until the film Gravity came along.
Bullock believes that it was Louis who helped her see the world from a new perspective. "I was OK about being alone but when you have a child everything is about exploration and being around other kids and being out in the world and seeing things. So now I see things through his eyes. I haven't ever gone out and explored and done things before like I have in the last three years. I have the best life right now because I'm enjoying every single moment of this amazing human being. I'm learning how to have a good time through him... I've got everything I want, and it couldn't be sweeter, better or more fulfilling," she told.
The exceptionally talented star, who first acted as an extra in her mum’s operas, got a breakthrough in a role alongside Sly Stallone in Demolition Man in 1993. Ever since then, she has been in demand, for decades now. Despite the amazing roles she has taken on throughout her career, the best has been that of a mother. "I choose to do what’s best for Louis. I don’t do anything selfishly for myself anymore," she said.
She loved motherhood so much that she adopted another child, Laila, in 2012, who is eight now. The Bird Box actress describes her family as "blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding."
"When I look at Laila, there's no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here," the Oscar winner, 55, told People magazine. "I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time."
