Robin Wright and Sean Penn are spending time together. The ex-couple was observed carrying their bags up an escalator at Los Angeles International Airport over the weekend, reports PEOPLE. Both stars recently divorced their respective partners; Penn, 62, divorced Leila George in April 2022, and Wright, 56, filed for divorce from Clément Giraudet in September 2022, after four years together.
Penn and Wright earlier began dating after Penn's divorce from Madonna in 1989 and dated on and off for several years. They were married from 1996 to 2010 and have two children together Hopper, 29, and Dylan, 31 from their 14-year marriage.

During their marriage, the House of Cards actress changed her name to Robin Wright Penn before returning to her previous name following their divorce in 2010. Talking to Vanity Fair in 2015, the actress recalled, "I was pregnant and ostensibly married at 24. I [changed my name] really for my children because we'd had kids before we married, and I thought that we should all have the same name. That's traditional."
Despite receiving offers from several directors, she opted to remain at home and take care of her and Penn's children. “We were learning as we were going along. We agreed as parents that we’d not work at the same time, so that one of us was always with the kids. He was making more money than I was at the time, so it was a simple decision: ‘You go work—I’ll stay with the kids.’”
Wright described her divorce from Penn, whom she had been with for 20 years, as "devastating" in 2014, in an interview with The Telegraph. "Divorce in and of itself, and with children, is devastating. Worse than that," she said at the time, adding that one of the reasons for their recurrent breakups and getting back together was "trying to keep the family together." The actress added, "If you've got kids, it's a family, and you try again, and you try again. We did that for a long time."
“I believe we were together not only to have our beautiful children but to learn how to love … for the next time around, the right way. And then, what I’m looking for in people now,” she added to Vanity Fair, “is kindness.” In May 2017, almost seven years after their divorce was finalized, Penn and Wright were spotted heading to New York's John F. Kennedy airport, per PEOPLE.
Sean Penn opened up to comedian Marc Maron on his WTF Podcast about his relationship with his ex-wife, Robin Wright. The exes “don’t have a lot of conversation,” Penn told Maron, adding that they "share different" values on parenting. “We don’t not get along,” he added. “We have very separate relationships with our kids at this point and it seems to work better that way because they are making their own decisions. As it turned out she and I did not share the same ethical views on parenting, including the continuing parenting of adult children.”
