Is Shakira talking about her former partner in her new song? The Colombian singer released a new song with Argentine hitmaker Bizarrap, titled BZRP Music Session #53. In the Spanish-language song video she sings about betrayal and being too good for the person she used to be with. The Hips Don't Lie singer also calls out the man's new girlfriend and how she's better off without him. "Sorry, baby, I should have thrown you out a while ago / A she-wolf like me is not for rookies / A she-wolf like me is not for guys like you / For guys like you / I'm too good for you and that's why you're with someone just like you," she sings in Spanish.

The musician is facing tax fraud charges in Spain, where she lived with the Spanish soccer player and their sons Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7. In her song, she even addresses her tax evasion battle adding that her partner betrayed her during a difficult period in her life. Now she's making music about it and getting her money's worth. "I'm not getting back with you, don't cry for me, nor beg me / I understood that it's not my fault that they criticize you / I only make music, sorry that it bothers you," she sings. "You left me the in-laws as my neighbors / Media outlets at my door and in debt with the government / You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger / Women don't cry anymore, they cash in."

In an interview with ELLE in September 2022, the pop star admitted that it was a very difficult time in her life as she navigated through the loss of a relationship. “I’ve remained quiet and just tried to process it all...it’s been tough not only for me, but also for my kids. Incredibly difficult. I have paparazzi camping outside, in front of my house, 24/7,” she said. “And there’s not a place where I can hide from them with my kids, except for my own house, ” she added.

She also pointed out that "the relationship I had with my kids’ father" was "turned into something vulgarized and cheapened by the media. And all of this while my dad has been in the ICU and I’ve been fighting on different fronts. 'Like I said, this is probably the darkest hour of my life'."

However, she noted that women are resilient, especially in times of great difficulty. She shared, "We are meant to nurture and to take care of those who depend on us. So you ask me how I manage this. And I just manage, I guess, reminding myself that I need to become an example for my kids, that I need to be what they want, what I want them to become." She further added, "And I want to be there, also, for all the people who have shown me their love and support. That is my biggest strength. That’s my most powerful engine right now."
