She revealed that it is difficult for them as celebrity parents to safeguard their children but they try as hard as they could.
It would be safe to state that motherhood is one of the toughest jobs! Keeping track of a number of things, working round-the-clock, not getting enough sleep, taking care of last-minute hiccups, especially when it comes to your kids is an everyday affair for most moms. But despite the exhaustion at work and home, when you plant a kiss on your kids' forehead, you can't help think that every effort is worth it.
Global sensation Shakira is a mother-of-two and a very dedicated one at that. While many often think celebrities have it easy, it is important to acknowledge that it comes with its own set of challenges. Being in the spotlight all the time, feeling the pressure of appearing perfect, and living a life that sets a good example for the fans can take a toll on their mental and physical health, apart from affecting their relationships. This is precisely why this strong woman puts in double the efforts to make sure that her children—Milan and Sasha—are not losing out on the simple joys of life.
The Columbian singer and her long-term partner and football star Gerard Pique do whatever it takes to give them a normal upbringing. “I try to give my kids a sense of normalcy within our lives,” she revealed during a chat with Hola!
She also admitted that she relies a great deal on her partner. “We try to do the best we can. There’s a lot of love; that’s the foundation of any family," she told Hola! She also added that earlier she was concerned about no one but herself, but now the focus has shifted to her family. This proud mama enjoys everything about being a mom. “I’m like any other mother. If I have I have to sell things in the school fair, I do it, too,” she quipped.
Her words also reveal how like most moms, she takes this role as the most important one amidst the many hats she dons. “I think all women face the same situation,” she admitted. “I used to be the center of my world, and now I am only a satellite of my children.”
She went to remark how she found motherhood to be the toughest job and never knew that it would require such enormous efforts. “It’s the hardest job I’ve ever had,” she said. “I never thought it’d be so difficult, because it takes a lot of your energy. I think of my family a lot; I’m concerned about them all day. It’s physical, emotional, and intellectual wear and tear. Thinking of making an album seemed like a Herculean task, like climbing Mount Everest.”
It was in that context that Shakira considered giving up her successful musical career. “These are things that go through your head one crazy night, but that’s why one has a family that cares, and helps you put your feet back on the ground,” she said. “Thank God I found that incentive again, because now, more than ever, I want to sing and go on tour.”
Both Shakira and Pique have demanding careers that require them to give their all to their craft, but she explains that their priority will always be their family. "You have to take care of it and dedicate time. Family is the most important thing for me; the rest is secondary.”
