Accompanied by her well-known acquaintances, Shannen Doherty marked another trip around the sun as she turned 52. Her friend, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar is honoring her buddy Doherty by sharing a collection of images of the two of them. The Beverly Hills, 90210 star was prominently featured in a funny post about their friendship on Gellar's Instagram page. In the photos, Doherty and Gellar can be seen making goofy expressions while floating in the pool and wearing inflatable costumes, and attempting to pour champagne backward into each other's mouths, as reported by PEOPLE.

“It’s your birthday @theshando so in honor of you, here is a slideshow of some of the more ridiculous stunts (swipe right) Any suggestions for new ones?” reads the caption of the series of fun pictures of the two. A few of the images Gellar provided showed the pair participating in the popular wine glass challenge and relaxing by the pool. They had been close friends for a very long time. Doherty commented on the post, writing, "@sarahmgellar we sure are drinking a lot in these photos!! I love you S!!"
Doherty, who is battling cancer, is one of the strongest individuals, a source told the outlet. "She surrounds herself with people she loves and she lives her life exactly how she wants to live it. She makes us all laugh every single day and anyone who has a chance to stand in Shannen's light should be considered lucky."
The two actresses have had a difficult road full of highs and lows since their days as stars in their respective '90s WB blockbuster programs, Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. One of the many things that set the two friend's relationship apart from others is how close they are to one another as well as how much they respect and admire one another.
"It's so nice for me to have a female friend that feels no threat, no jealousy. We have never felt that with each other. We've done nothing but lift each other and support each other in our careers and champion one another," Doherty told Gellar in ET's exclusive sit down. Gellar, who was a fan of the show, quipped that she "forced" Doherty to do the 90210 revivals since she knew it would be difficult for her. Their long-standing friendship can be witnessed through their frank and passionate conversations during interviews.
Meanwhile, Doherty's Charmed costar, Drew Fuller too shared an Instagram story in celebration of Doherty's 52nd, too. "Your fight and your loyalty know [sic] equal. Happy birthday [Shannen] love you so much." On the other hand, Michael Coste, a Hermes executive, also uploaded a photo of Doherty with the caption "Happy Birthday" scribbled over the Instagram story.
