Sienna Miller was only 23 when the scandal broke and it became a part of her life and career for years.
Sometimes, the man we think is the love of our life may not be the healthiest option for us. We might feel alive with them but that doesn't always mean that they are the most loving partner. In the early 2000s, American-British actress Sienna Miller, 38, who was in her early 20s then, met actor Jude Law, 47, during the course of their work. The duo fell in love with each other but they didn't have the happiest union.
The year was 2003 and during the shooting of Alfie, Law and Miller met. He was going through a divorce from his wife of six years, Sadie Frost. It is not known when they went from colleagues to lovers but by Christmas in 2004, the couple was engaged. By the summer of 2005, things went downhill when tabloids reported that he had an affair with his children’s nanny, Daisy Wright, who sold the story of their affair to the press, as per In Style.
He didn't try to deny the accusation and issued an apology the same day. "Following the reports in today’s papers, I just want to say I am deeply ashamed and upset that I’ve hurt Sienna and the people most close to us," he said in a statement to the British Press Association. "I want to publicly apologize to Sienna and our respective families for the pain that I have caused. There is no defense for my actions which I sincerely regret and I ask that you respect our privacy at this very difficult time," he continued.
Miller had to perform seven days on stage while being hounded by the press. "That was one of the most challenging moments I hope I’ll ever have to experience. Because with that level of public heartbreak, to have to get out of a bed let alone stand in front of 800 people every night, it’s just the last thing you want to do," she told The Daily Beast. "It was really hard. And the other thing was, it was at the height of all that paparazzi madness, and in London where there was an epidemic of bad behavior. They knew where I would be every night," she added.
What the 21 Bridges actress thought would be the love of her life turned out to be a spiral of negativity for her. She broke up with Law, but couldn't forget him. She opened up about coping through that period. "There’s a whole six weeks of that experience that I don’t remember. I have no recollection of it," she recalled. "People who came to see me said we had dinner, and I don’t remember," Miller added. "I was in so much shock over it all. And I’d really just begun. I was only 23. But if you get through that, you feel like you can get through anything."
Perhaps, she didn't get over him despite breaking up because they got back together in the fall of 2009 but split again in February 2011, according to People. In 2016, she revealed that they have stayed friends despite the drama that encircled them.
"I care about him enormously," the Factory Girl actress told Porter magazine. However, she added that they "don’t see each other that much." In 2019, she reflected on that difficult period in their lives.
"I fell in love with someone very famous and that became the story – it was bad timing. I had an amazing time, but it would have been nice if that hadn’t happened before I was known for something else. It was a battle to be seen as something else," she said, reported Evening Express.
The 38-year-old is now a mom-of-one. She was engaged to Tom Sturridge, who is the father of her 8-year-old daughter Marlowe. They broke up in the summer of 2015 after dating for four years. They remain friends and she's now dating American editor Lucas Zwirner, 28. However, they too may have broken up, reports the Daily Mail.
