The loss of a dear one is hard for everyone and celebrities are no different. We sometimes forget that even though they have the ability to get anything they want with a snap of their fingers, they cannot get the ones they lost along the way.

Actor Stanely Tucci has made a name for himself in the two decades that he spent in Hollywood by playing a variety of eccentric characters in blockbusters like The Devil Wears Prada, The Hunger Games, Julie and Julia, and many others. Even though Tucci's career must've taught him to accept professional losses and move on, there's one loss he had never been able to forget, his first wife.

Distractify reported that the actor married his first wife, Kathryn “Kate” Spath-Tucci in 1995, and they remained married for 14 years. Tucci took Kate's children from her previous children under his care and the couple became parents to three lovely children of their own, Nicolo and Isabel, 21, and daughter Camilla, 19. Kate, the eldest child of actors George C. Scott and Colleen Dewhurst, was married to actor and stage manager Alexander R. Scott before she met Tucci.

Like any other couple, the two had some troubles in their heaven as well. After being married for seven years, Tucci and Kate's marriage saw some ups and downs in 2002, after the actor left his wife because of an affair with actress Edie Falco. However, the affair didn't last for too long and the actor saw himself returning to Kate. The love birds then spent seven more years together until a huge storm wrecked their loving home. In 2009, Kate passed away from breast cancer at the age of 47.

Now, even after 11 years of her passing, Tucci has not forgotten his first love. Recalling Kate during a recent interview with CBC Sunday Morning with Holly Williams, the actor said, "You never stop grieving." He added, "It's still hard after 11 years. It's still hard. And it will always be hard. But you can't let it... and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn't like that."

In an interview with NPR, in his first interview right after Kate's death, Tucci said, "There's all the blaming of yourself, which you can't do, but you kind of do and I'm just — I'm mostly sad." In another interview with The Guardian in 2016, when the actor was asked the name of the person he wanted to apologize to the most, he said it was his first wife.

“We tried everything we could do to save her,” he said. “I wish that I could have done more and that I could have been with her at the moment she passed away. I couldn’t be in that room, because I knew it would be so devastating that I wouldn’t be able to take care of the kids after.”

After Kate's death, he married Felicity Blunt in 2012. Blunt is actress Emily Blunt's older sister. Tucci met Blunt when he attended Emily's wedding in 2010 and a year later Tucci proposed. During an interview with The Times, the actor said that initially, he felt guilty about proposing to her because it had been only two years after Kate's death.

“I panicked instantly afterwards. It was very hard to go on vacations at first, really hard to go with Felicity someplace. I felt guilty. It’s horrible.” The actor then left New York City where he lived with Kate and moved to Blunt's hometown, London, for a "fresh start".

Even though Tucci flew far away from the home he once built with Kate, he couldn't run away from his past. Kate will always be with him in his memories.
