"The best lesson you've taught me is no matter what happens, we will always be fine," he gushed.
Steve Harvey is 66! Celebrating his birthday alongside the love of his life, his wife of 15 years, Marjorie Harvey, the radio and TV giant danced alongside her. He is devoted to his family and his community. He rang in the new year as he approached 66 surrounded by loved ones with his family, including his sons and daughters Lori, Karli, and Brandi, as he posted on Instagram.
Steve is exceptionally loving as a husband. He wrote his beloved a letter of love on their 15th wedding anniversary, thanking her for being in his life for so many years. He admitted in the love letter that he had finally felt like he could start his life again when Marjorie entered the picture. "Through our marriage, we learned to go with the flow. I also learned to listen more. But the best lesson you've taught me is no matter what happens, we will always be fine," he gushed.
Before developing into the resilient couple they are now, Steve and Marjorie struggled through numerous hardships together after meeting when they were much younger. The duo actually met in 1987, per GoodHousekeeping. After ending his tumultuous relationship with Mary Lee, Steve was performing a set at a Memphis comedy club where he first saw Marjorie. She arrived late and grabbed a seat in the front, where Steve spoke to her personally while performing. “The very first thing I said to Marjorie was, ‘I don’t know who you are, but I’m going to marry you one day.’ That was the beginning,” Steve says.
In 1982, Steve and his then-wife Marcia Harvey welcomed twin children, Brandi and Karli, who are now 40. Prior to their divorce in 1994, the couple gave birth to a son, Broderick Harvey Jr., now 31 years old, in 1991. With his second wife, Mary Shackelford, whom he was married to from 1996 to 2005, the talk show host welcomed Wynton, now 25 years old, in 1997, per PEOPLE.
By chance, Steve reconnected with Marjorie after his second divorce, through some friends in 2005, and they have been together since. On June 25, 2007, Steve proposed to her after they had been dating for a year. When Steve married Marjorie Harvey, he took in her three kids from a previous marriage: son Jason, 31, and daughters Lori, 25, and Morgan, 37.
Nevertheless, their combined seven children weren't instantly on board with the idea of combining their families. “I said, ‘Look, you don’t like it? Deal with it. I don’t need y’all’s permission,’ ” Steve told PEOPLE.
"When you're dealing with a blended family, everyone is coming from a place of broken," Marjorie said before explaining how she and Steve wanted to make sure all of their children felt included and loved. “But I just told them, ‘Everyone is included. Everyone has access to their parents. Whatever you didn’t have before, don’t let that interfere with what you can have now.’ We knew this was right," she said, adding "Now we're Mom and Dad to everybody."
“I owe you a debt of gratitude because you simply changed my life,” Harvey wrote at the end of his heartfelt letter to his wife.
