The supermodel announced the arrival of her baby through Instagram.
Naomi Campbell shocked the world by announcing her entry into motherhood.
According to Vogue, the 50-year-old supermodel took to social media to tell the world about her first child. She wrote, "A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother, So honored to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you, my angel."
She further wrote, "There is no greater love” below an image of her baby girl's leg resting in her hand.
Her announcement sparked excitement among her peers and fans. Many congratulated her on social media. “Oh my God!!!! Today is the day?? How absolutely incredible,” wrote Designer Marc Jacobs, according to Irish Times.
Though Campbell's announcement was unexpected, and it hasn't been made clear how she had her baby, the supermodel had previously talked about her desire to embrace motherhood. Speaking to ES Magazine in 2017, Campbell said she was glad she could be a mother whenever she is ready given the advancement in science.
"I think about having children all the time. But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want," said Campbell, according to the Daily Mail. When asked if she would rather have the child herself than adopting, Campbell said, "maybe."
In other interviews too, Campbell stated her interest in starting a family. "I want the same things as every other woman: the house, the kids, the lot," she said.
She also gushed about how much she loved children and reiterated she would never give up on the idea of being a mother. "I’d love to have kids. I don’t discount anything in life. I love kids and always will. When I’m around children, I become a child myself. That’s the little girl I don’t ever want to lose," said Campbell.
However, in 2019, Campbell said she felt she was not yet ready to welcome a child into her life. "Not yet... I'll see what the universe brings me. For now, what the universe has delivered is very much in the spirit of a chosen family," she said.
Moreover, the supermodel previously insisted that she did not want to be a single parent. Instead, she wanted to have a child only when she could find a suitable partner for her. "I do want a father figure. I think it's important. It's the way I feel today, sitting here talking to you," said the model, according to Daily Mail.
Campbell, who has always tried to keep her love life under wraps is currently single, as per HITC. However, over the years, she has been linked to some high-profile celebrities such as Diddy, Robert De Niro, Mike Tyson, and Russian billionaire Vladislav Doronin.
She was last heard to be dating One Direction singer, Liam Payne, after breaking up with rapper Skepta in 2018.
The model, currently believed to be a single mother, has been engaged twice, once to Italian businessman Flavio Briatore in 1998 and another time to a Russian businessman named Vladislav Doronin.
