Susan Sarandon always tried to lead by example and hoped that her children would find their path in life. And, she was right.
All of us have strong women in our lives we get inspired by. They may be our mothers, sisters, aunts, or friends. For others, we may be an inspiration. When our mother is the person we look up to and they support us right back, there can be no greater joy than that feeling. There is pride in knowing that the woman who took care of us, nurtured us and made us the person we are is proud of us. When what we do gets noticed by our heroes it helps us bring a more positive attitude to the table.
Susan Sarandon, a passionate woman and talented actress, who has paved her way in Hollywood through her beautiful roles is her daughter's hero. Eva Amurri, the oldest child of the Thelma and Louise actress, idolizes her mom for being an inspiration in her life.
Amurri has learned to take care of herself, have a family, and go after her dreams thanks to her mother's unwavering support. The 34-year-old had tried her hand in acting just like her mother before becoming an entrepreneur. Amurri is married to Kyle Martino, and Italian former soccer player, and has two kids, Major James and Marlowe Mae Martino.
"I think the biggest lesson there was just the permission to want a lot for yourself, career-wise, as a woman. I think that was extremely valuable to me," she told Yahoo Finance. "I think (my mother) really unapologetically ... went after what she needed to be fulfilled. So it was nice to just have that example."
Amurri added, "When I met my husband, I made sure that he understood there is never a world in which I am a stay-at-home mom. I'm always going to be working. I'm always going to have a career."
Being able to set such clear boundaries was a positive behavior she learned from the woman standing behind her, supporting her. Sarandon, a mother-of-three, said that she just wanted her children to grow up as good people. "I always felt that just if they had empathy and a sense of decency and cared about people that they would find their own path," said the Dead Man Walking actress about her children to Today. "I led by example and I trusted because they were good people they would find things that spoke to them," said the Little Women actress.
Amurri is also not one to shy away from heaping compliments on her mother whenever she gets the chance. "My mom stands up for herself and others and I think that has always been a really important message in our family," she said.
Meanwhile, Sarandon herself is in awe of her daughter for being the supermom she is. "I think that what she's doing is amazing. I'm very proud of her. ... And she's really a funny kid. She's fierce, she's strong," she told Today. Sarandon's daughter decided to step back from acting when she became a mother and instead poured herself into her lifestyle blog, Happily Eva After. "I just wanted to be putting my energy into something that I felt was just constructing something more positive in my life and for my daughter, especially," she said about leaving her acting career behind.
The Stepmom actress is also very understanding of her daughter and when Amurri decided to go separate ways from her husband in November 2019, she was right by her side at her most vulnerable time, when she was pregnant with baby no. 3. "She supports Eva 100 percent," an insider told Closer Weekly. "Susan knew Eva and Kyle were having problems," the insider added. Having her mom beside her during a decision so tough hopefully reassured her that she will never be alone in trying times.
