Mom “Furious” after Teacher Allegedly Tapes Mask to Student’s Face | “I Was Scared for My Son”

The boy went to get some water to drink, and he forgot to put his mask on. Instead of asking him to, or sending him to the office, the teacher taped the mask on his face.

A furious mother from Las Vegas claims that a substitute teacher taped a mask onto her nine-year-old son's face. According to Fox News, the child forgot to put on his mask when he got up to get a drink of water.

"I was furious, furious," the unidentified mother told Fox5 Vegas. "I was scared for my son on what kind of long-term effect it is going to have on him socially, the fact that the entire class was laughing."

“He went to get a sip of water, forgot to put the mask on. The teacher did not tell him to put it back on or send him to the office, she instead pulled him up in front of the classroom in front of all of the students and she then taped the mask across the top of his face,” she said.

This incident has come to light because the child had coincidently forgotten his homework and his dad went to school to drop it off at the office. When the boy when to pick it up, he still had the tape on his face, which one of the administrators noticed. “When he went to the office to pick up that homework is when one of the administrators noticed the tape on his face,” she said.

Immediately, the alarmed staff took the tape off the boy's face, before alerting the principal who went to the classroom to investigate, she claimed. “She saw another student who she thought was my son with tape on their face as well,” the mom said. The Clark County School District said in a statement that it is "aware of the isolated incident and is dealing with the employee through proper channels. The principal proactively notified the family of the investigation."

What's worse is that this didn't just happen to her son, which means this was not an "isolated" incident. Other students also had their masks taped on their faces, the distraught son confided in his mom. The student's mom has no issue with the mask mandate, but the school ought to understand that children that age can be forgetful. “He was very upset. He was crying. He was humiliated,” the mom said, adding that she wants the teacher to pay for her actions.

“It's crazy. Corporal punishment in schools should not be happening,” the mom said. Though she's filed a police report, she is looking at changing schools, or possibly even moving her son to a charter school.
