Teen Buys Flowers for All the Girls at His School When He Realized Not Everyone Gets a Flower on Valentine's Day

“We’ve gotten several messages from older women around their 30s and 40s saying thank you and that Jayme’s their hero because they were that girl that never received a flower," said Jayme's mother who shared it on Facebook.

Valentine's Day might be the day to show your love for the special someone, but for teenagers in school, it might be a little awkward, especially if they don't receive any of the usual flowers, gifts, chocolates, or notes in the lockers. However, one young teen decided that all the girls in his school deserved to feel special on the day of love. And he decided to do it in the sweetest way possible.

Jayme Wooley, a 15-year-old sophomore from Axtell, Texas, brightened up the mood at his high school on February 14, 2020, by buying flowers for every girl at his school. According to Fox 8, the thoughtful teenager got the idea when he saw that some of the girls didn't get anything on Valentine's Day the year before.

“Over the past couple of years that I’ve been at Axtell, not all of the girls were able to get flowers and stuff. Sometimes, it’d just be a secret admirer or popular girls,” he told CNN. “It felt heartbreaking knowing that not every girl was feeling special.”

So enlisting his mom's help, the teen purchased 170 flowers the day before and with a few friends, handed them out to every girl from grade 6 to 12 that came to school on the day. It was a heartwarming moment captured on video. One of Jayme's fellow sophomores, Kennedi Sherrill, was a recipient of this sweet moment. She said, “He handed me a flower and I thought it was really special because not everyone gets a flower on Valentine’s Day."

Jayme's mother, Amy Gordon, mentioned that she wasn't surprised when her son came to her with this request. “He’s always been that type of kid,” she said. “It made me very happy that he was thinking about others and how he’s thinking about everybody and not just one girl.” Taking to Facebook, the proud mother said, "When your 15 almost 16-year-old tells you he wants to buy EVERY girl a flower at school tomorrow so they feel SPECIAL you make it happen!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Proud to be HIS MOMMA!!!! 170 Flowers for 6th-12th Grade!!!" above a picture of all the flowers they had bought.

And this kind act of Jayme's prompted other boys to make their own gestures such as holding the door open for the ladies, said Amy. The 15-year-old also said that he hopes to make this a ritual for every Valentine's Day that comes. “I’ll probably never forget that moment of just seeing their faces brighten up,” he said. “I don’t want anybody to feel less important than anyone else.”

When Amy posted the video of Jayme spreading the love, she was stunned by the number of responses. She said, “We’ve gotten several messages from older women around their 30s and 40s saying thank you and that Jayme’s their hero because they were that girl that never received a flower." With over 100 shares and 4.1k views, according to WTHR 13, the comments praising this young teen and his mom don't seem to be slowing down.

One Facebook user commented, "Raising him into such a gentleman!!! Good job mama!! And tell him he made a difference in so many of those young girls lives!!" Another said, "how sweet! if anyone ever did this for me, it’d make my day. hope those girls appreciated it."
