Tammy Bradshaw is getting candid about being there for her husband Terry Bradshaw during his cancer battle. The 61-year-old admitted that she was a lot more worried than she let on. The NFL legend announced his cancer diagnosis during a Fox NFL Sunday segment. The former Steelers quarterback was diagnosed with bladder cancer in November 2021. Although the 74-year-old was treated at Yale University Medical Center and became cancer free, he later learned he had a Merkel cell carcinoma, a rare and aggressive form of skin cancer in March 2022.

"I had a bad neck. I get an MRI. Now we find a tumor in my left neck. And it's a Merkel cell tumor, which is a rare form of skin cancer. So I had that surgery done at M.D. Anderson in Houston," he shared reassuring fans that he's back to good health. "Folks, I may not look like my old self, but I feel like my old self. I'm cancer free, I'm feeling great. And over time, I'm going to be back to where I normally am."

Tammy Bradshaw who has been married to Terry since 2014 had to be a rock for her husband after he was diagnosed with two types of cancer in less than a year. Speaking to NBC News correspondent Harry Smith in a TODAY show segment, she was particularly scared during his second cancer diagnosis. “The doctor calls me to tell me what it is, and then I’m shook because I was a radiation therapist for 10 years," she said. "I knew where this could go. I knew what the outcomes could be. And it did scare me the second time with that diagnosis. I never said this to him, but inside I carried a lot more worry and stress than what I let him know I think," Tammy shared. When she was asked if she ever cried after hearing about his health struggles, she replied, “In front of him? No.”

The Football Hall of Famer expressed gratitude for having his wife's support through such a difficult time. “I can’t imagine not holding her hand when we take off on a plane. Or when we land or when we snuggle up when we’re in bed together. Or when she’s sitting over there with our sick puppy. And I look at her and she doesn’t know I’m looking at her and I’m so thankful. Now I’m getting emotional.” He also admitted that he's not going to take life for granted and live every moment. Terry told Smith, “We’re going to go to Europe, going to go to Paris, going to go to wherever we want to go. I’m going to get all this in because I feel like I don’t want to put this off anymore. The former athlete laughed and said, “I may have 25, 30 years left, but I’m going to act like I got one.”
