Bride Demotes Cousin from Maid of Honor Position as She Is "Too Fat" And Has "No Control over Her Diet"

Apparently, the 27-year-old was "fat" and not disciplined enough "to go on a diet" and the cousin could not risk having her as the maid-of-honor on her big day.

A 27-year-old TikTok user from Louisiana, Lia, was all set to be her cousin's maid of honor. But the bride-to-be had demoted her to a bridesmaid for being "fat" and not disciplined enough "to go on a diet" and she could not risk having Lia as the maid-of-honor on her big day. Lia, who goes by @liainlouisiana on TikTok, took to the video-sharing platform to show everyone the conversation that ensued between them.

In the clip, which went viral after it was posted last week, Lia can be seen eating a sandwich from Chick-fil-A as It’s like a reward plays in the background, reports Daily Dot. Next, a text exchange is featured on a green screen behind her as the TikTok user mentions in a text overlay that the messages are from her cousin, Alejandra. "You know the bridesmaid group is not a therapy group," writes the cousin apparently after having told Lia to go on a diet. "Are you embarrassed?," asks the TikToker in response but Alejandra refuses to show any remorse for stripping the girl of her maid of honor duties.

"Of what...Of telling you to go on a diet .. no...It's my wedding," writes the bridezilla making it obvious she is not sorry about fat-shaming her cousin, even after being called out for it. Lia, who said the bride is "like a sister" to her, seems a little taken aback by her response as she writes, "Alejandra, you demoted me from maid of honor because I'm fat," according to Yahoo! News. But Alejandra, who had no intentions of softening the blow or diffusing the tense situation, replied with a simple, "Yes."

"Because you don’t have any control over yourself to go on a diet. I like people with discipline. You are still a bridesmaid. I’m going to sleep goodnight," she writes. Lia chooses not to engage in the conversation any further and replies with "Good night love you". Understandably, the video left viewers furious as one wrote, "I can see how understanding and compassionate you are in the comments but I am begging you to see that she has no respect for you & not to just take it." Another user shared, "I see you’re close and love her, but you don’t deserve to be treated like this by someone you love."

A third chimed in, "I see you excusing her behavior in replies so I just want you to know there is absolutely no justification to be treated like this. Especially by fam (sic)." Soon after the virality of the video, Lia posted a follow-up video on TikTok saying she was completely uninvited from the wedding now. "More wedding drama, because what is a wedding without bridesmaid drama," she said. Without going into further details, Lia explained that she had now sworn to "respect" herself more after being treated so horribly by her own cousin.

"I'm not going to the wedding. I have cried all afternoon... I am uninvited. I'm not going, I'm returning my bridesmaid dress on Monday and that's that," she said. "First step to respecting myself, you guys said that I should, you know respect myself and not let people treat me like c**p... I am trying. I am doing my best." When asked if the latest development had anything to do with the video Lia had uploaded, she said, "Yeah, I told her about it because it was kind of blowing up and she said I was uninvited, then tried to make it seem like it was my choice I wasn't going."

Thankfully, there were many kind-hearted strangers who assured Lia that what she did was right. "You deserve so much better! I’m sorry, I know it hurts now but you did the right thing," wrote one. Another noted, "Good. Save your $ and do something nice for yourself with the $ instead." A third expressed, "That wedding was gonna be lame anyway."
