To say that at some point in our lives our pets become a part of our family will be an understatement, they are angels who make us realize that love, after all, has not eluded our world.
The fact that a gesture of love is far more impactful than a thousand hollow words, is not lost on us. So when someone spends their entire life showing love to us in various ways, we can't help but forge a bond with them that appeals to us on a spiritual level. It would not be wrong to submit that our pets are one of the beings with whom we create honest and special bonds. Therefore, when it's time to bid adieu to them we often lose ourselves in grief.
Something similar happened to Oscar-nominated actor Tom Hardy when he lost his pet dog Woody, 6, due to a muscle disorder. After Woody's tragic demise, Hardy penned an emotional tribute for him thanking him for choosing them as his family and loving them more than he could ever know. He took to his blog to reveal how he first met him and how he became an inseparable part of his family.
In 2012 when the Venom actor was shooting for Lawless in Atlanta, he happened to run into a stray dog by the roadside. His co-star Jessica Chastain who was with him at that time asked him if he was a boy or girl; little did she know, she was actually helping him name his newfound love.
"Jessica asked me was he a girl or a boy. It's a boy I said. How do you know? Erm… I can feel his Woodstock. great !!! let's call him Woodstock!!! And so it was,' he writes.
He also went on to explain how Woody became his "best friend", had some great times together and they "went through so much together." Explaining his affectionate bond with his wife Charlotte Riley, Hardy wrote, "Charlotte worked tirelessly with him to get him through a rough case of separation anxiety. He loved her like his Mum. And when she was pregnant he guarded her fiercely," Daily Mail reports.
It is adorable how our pets not only become a huge part of our lives but also start befriending and influencing our friends. Woody was no different, he went to multiple movie sets and won hearts of Hardy's fans and colleagues.
"He has been on many sets. Met many crews. Photo shoots premieres made many many friends he was #73 most influential animal in TIME magazine. He beat JAWS. Something we all thought was brilliant." He adds, "He's been in peaky blinders. Legend everyone who met him loved him. He didn't have a bad bone in his body. All he knew was love.
He goes on to say, "I don't normally speak out about family and friends but this is an unusual circumstance. Woody affected so many people in his own right."
He concluded by saying he is grateful for having the opportunity to know him and be introduced to such fierce loyalty and affection. In a few moving lines, he described his bond with Woody as a soulful one, something that had made his life better.
" He was far too young to leave us and We at home are devastated by his loss I am ultimately grateful for his loyal companionship and love and it is of some great comfort that he is no longer suffering. Above all I am completely gutted. the world for me was a better place with him in it and by my side."
"To me and to a family who loved him beyond words and whom he loved without doubt more than I have ever known. Woody was the bestest of journey companions we ever could dream of having. Our souls intertwined forever."
"Thankyou Woody for choosing to find us. We will love you and be with you and you with us forever. Never ever ever forgotten. Your Boy tom xxx I love you beyond words. To the moon and back again and again to Infinity and beyond. Run with Max (his previous dos) now and the Angels. I will see you when I get there. With all of me I love you. Always Thankyou for Your love beautiful boy."
