Three people "stepped out of the vehicle with assault rifles and handguns" and opened fire at the public.

America woke up to yet another mass shooting incident that sent shockwaves through the country. According to People, two individuals were killed and about 20 were wounded in the incident that occurred at a concert in Florida on May 30, 2021. As per the press release by the Miami-Dade Police Department, the shooting took place after midnight at a billiards club in Hialeah, a town north of Miami.

Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo "Freddy" Ramirez said that the incident unfolded after a white Nissan Pathfinder pulled up to the El Mula Banquet Hall. Three people "stepped out of the vehicle with assault rifles and handguns and started firing indiscriminately into the crowd," said Ramirez, according to CNN.

The police report stated, "Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded, determined two victims were deceased on the scene and transported eight others to various hospitals in Miami-Dade and Broward.  In addition, over twelve other victims were self transported to various hospitals.  At least one victim was transported in critical condition."

Meanwhile,  Ramirez confirmed, "The result is 20 to 25 victims with gunshot injury wounds, and two deceased on the scene."

Soon after the shooting, five injured people were admitted to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. Hospital spokesperson Kerting Baldwin informed that two people were in critical condition.

Speaking of the dreadful event, Ramirez stated that it is suspected to be "a targeted act of gun violence." As per ABC News, authorities believe the shooting was motivated by "ongoing rivalry between two groups". The report also said that the car that the suspects drove, Nissan Pathfinder, was recovered Monday evening from a canal. The car was stolen a few weeks ago.

Ramirez also took to Twitter to talk about the incident. "I am at the scene of another targeted and cowardly act of gun violence, where over 20 victims were shot and 2 have sadly died. These are cold-blooded murderers that shot indiscriminately into a crowd and we will seek justice. My deepest condolences to the family of the victims," he tweeted.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis condemned the violence and tweeted, "We mourn the loss of the two victims and are praying for the recovery of the more than 20 people injured at El Mula Banquet Hall near Hialeah. We are working with local authorities to bring justice to the perpetrators."

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are in deep despair. Angelica Green's only son and nephew were shot during the incident. She stated that her son was once shot in his abdomen and clarified that his condition is stable after the surgery. "He's not a statistic. He's a graduate from college last year. So he's educated. He was going out with his educated cousin to just celebrate the weekend, and they had not made it into the club as of yet," said the mother.

She added, "They said that some guys, three guys that they noticed ... they just started shooting ... for whatever reason, we don't know."

Her nephew, on the other hand, was shot thrice in the leg and once in the abdomen area.

The authorities stated that the investigation was still ongoing and that the suspects are still at large. They have released surveillance videos on Monday and asked the public to pass on any information that would help them in catching the perpetrators.
