"They will leave to just find themselves again, to just love themselves again, because they don't even know who they are," Bertinelli said.
American actress, Valerie Bertinelli has recently reposted a video of a woman talking about why men and women leave their relationships. She has also spoken out candidly about individuals who silently endure emotional abuse from their partners. According to PEOPLE, the 62-year-old Food Network star shared her comments on Instagram this Friday after the short video clip of another woman: “When it comes to emotional abuse and mental abuse, it's not talked about, because you just think, 'I'm not being physically abused, so it's not abuse.'”
Bertinelli mentioned how "some women get so lost in trying to make their partner feel so loved, so respected that they've lost any kind of love or respect that they have for themselves.”
The woman whose video Bertinelli has reposted can be seen saying in the same video: "...a woman leaves a man for herself." The woman's thoughts must have resonated with Bertinelli because she expands on that: "They will leave to just find themselves again, to just love themselves again, because they don't even know who they are," Bertinelli continued on the post.
Bertinelli has been married twice in her life so far and she split from her second husband Tom Vitale last year after filing for a divorce in May 2022, which was six months after filing for legal separation in November 2021. The actress was previously married to the late rockstar Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007.
After her divorce was finalized, she shared a video on Twitter in November 2022 and celebrated what she called “the second best day of her life.” Ever since then, Bertinelli has been candidly speaking about the hardships that she faced after splitting from her ex-husband.
Bertinelli stayed active on her social media to update fans about why she was looking forward to a new beginning in 2023 and saying goodbye to 2022. In one of her Instagram posts, Bertinelli can be seen happily swaying to Taylor Swift’s song Clean and the caption of the post read: "This new year's day is coming in so much happier than last year's."

"From a young age, New Year's Day has been one of my absolute favorite days, for the last 5-6 years it's been one of the saddest. No more. There is so much to look forward to now, when before it just looked endlessly sad, scary, lonely, and stressful. I have no idea what's ahead for me and I'm not worried. I'm free. This new year's day, 2023, is the first day of the rest of my life!" she continued. She concluded her post by wishing her fans and followers “every bit of joy and happiness and kindness."
